Hey !

My good'n"nold Dell CRT is dying and I've been checking out what I could replace it with ... I quickly saw that the 22" LCD were quite impressive considering their low cost.

However I'm looking for something that wouldn't be too bad in video playback and it seems most of them are rather weak in this domain, at least that's what i've seen on the reviews.

What would be the best choice for a 22" LCD with video playback being the main usage ?

I've considered the LG L226WTQ but it seems more for gamers, and it's overdrive problem scares me a bit, also some people say bugs die into the screen ... strange

the Hyundai ImageQuest N220W seems quite nice for the price but I don't know how it reacts in the video field really ... i've seen different points of view on this.

thanks :)

Well I don't think so, Dvd's mainly ...

I've done some more research and I've found that the 20 or 21 inches LCD with MVA panel are considered better suited for video, and generally their 8ms response time is in practice as good as the 5ms for the 22" TN's... Is there a "no-brainer" model for video ? I'm still not sure because they seem a lot more expensive too .. and I would have to sacrifice an inch or two !

I think you're certain to get an 8 bit panel if you buy an Acer 2051. Dell's 2007fpw is a "panel lottery" i think.

Any 22" panel you buy today will be a TN panel; these really aren't best suited for watching DVDs. In my opinion, you would be best served by a VA or IPS panel. Not sure what your budget is, but the BenQ FP241W is a very nice P-MVA panel that would work well for watching video (as well as gaming if you're into it).
