Neighbor has a 22" WS, it worked fine for months now. All of a sudden now you have to scroll to see the whole desktop. Both left/right and up/down. a good portion of the screen is missing both ways.

I checked the resolution 1650x1050 which is right, if I set it lower the need to scroll goes away but everything looks bad.

I installed the latest drivers - 9800pro AGP. even tried the Omega drivers - no dice there either. Went over the ATI control panel and saw no options.

I checked what programs were running, or if he had installed something else that might be messing with it. Didn't see any.

He is not a computer person, he might have accidentally did something, but he doesn't go clicking around or installing random software. I googled this and didn't see anything about it. I've never seen this problem before. I ended up for now setting his resolution a bit lower, the screen looks kind of smooshed but he doesn't have to scroll to see the task bar or the right side.

Anyone have an idea what this is and how to correct it?

Well, the resolution would be 1680x1050 not 1650x1050. I don't think that's the problem but i though i'd let you know. If this problem is recent, just system restore to an earlier point and see if that fixes the problem (just in case he DID do something by accident). System restore works magic :)
