I came across this link by following a chain I can't quite backtrace, but it made for great reading. Letters Of Note has a list of 22 memos from the Edward Mike Davis, CEO of the now-defunct Tiger Oil Company.

Are these for real? It almost seems like he is just joking in some of them. My coworker's and I have gotten emails like this from my boss, but he is just kidding around.

If he is for real with these memos...wow 😱.

It was a gas & trucking company in the late 70's. I don't doubt it.

I actually see the CEO as the whiny "nobody takes me seriously" type. Apparently employees were taking things from his office without his consent. That's a pretty good sign of someone being widely mocked.
 
I have no doubt they are legit. I once worked for a lunatic who was like that - small company president who wanted to make sure everyone knew he ruled with an iron fist and who enjoyed belittling people.

I have often told people he was the craziest boss that could have ever existed... but now, after reading the Tiger Oil memos, I will now have to say he might have only been the second-craziest. As bad as the guy I worked for was, he at least never told people they couldn't have a beer after working hours.

And the guy I worked for might not speak to you, but he didn't forbid you from saying hello to him.

I salute the person who saved those memos, they are indeed classic.
 
LOL! Those are definately legit. I work at the commission that regulates oil & gas in Texas, and we still occasionally get assholes like that in.
 
If I was a CEO I'd have Fuckup Firing Friday's. Every week there is a possibility of someone getting the boot and we do it before donuts.

Sorry Frank, I got some bad news and good news. Bad news is you're fired, good news is someone gets an extra donut.
 
Any truck driver or employee who ruins a piece of equipment due to negligence or abuse will be terminated immediately by his boss, and if the boss doesn't do this, then the boss will be terminated by Mike Davis.
