I just noticed that my system/programs drive has almost no more free space. When I looked into the matter, I noticed that I have a HKCR.reg. My guess is that this is NOT normal. I have no clue when it happened or what I could have done to trigger the ballooning of this file.

Can someone suggest a way of reducing the size of the HKCR.reg file?

My system:
Windows Vista 64-bit
Asus A8N-SLI Premium
AMD 4800+
4Gb Corsair Value Select
Seasonic S12
1x WD160YS SATA II
3x WD320KS SATA II

Thanks in advance for all the help!

If that is the actual name of the file its not your actual registry file, it sounds more like an text based registry export. It most likely can be deleted, where is it located?

Someone probably exported your registry for some reason, you can nuke it (the real registries are located in systemroot\system32\config).

Yup -- 21Gb! That was nuts! I have no clue what was in there... but I've deleted it about 1 hour ago and I'm still up. ;)
