More than likely it has bad electrolytic caps.
If you can pull the cover off and check the power supply board, take pics and post 'em here.
 
Just being curious.
Is your cable box connected directly to the tv???

Or,,, do you connect the cable box to a home theater receiver and then the home theater receiver connected to the tv?? There are times when the hdmi boards in the home theater receivers go bad causing problems.
