I have been looking around for a monitor to use in portrait mode beside my main 4k monitor. Currently I'm using a 2560x1440 monitor in this role, but it doesn't fit in either resolution or physical size, so I was hoping to get something around 2k pixels wide and 18" diagonal. Lo and behold, the ideal resolution is actually a thing, in the form of 2160x1440 FHD+!
That's exactly as wide as 4k is high, and a decent height too, making it about right for the intended use of displaying reference documents while I'm working on something full-screen on the main monitor. It might even be worthwhile having one each side for gaming.
It looks like this resolution was brought into existence solely for tablets - does anyone know if anyone is planning to use it for desktop monitors? I'm guessing not, since manufacturers have proven reluctant to offer anything even slightly outside the norm, but I live in hope.
