Seriously do i need all those fans? I mean i have my cpu set to 12x166 right now and temp at full lod goes to 35-36c. Also my -12v rail goes to -13 while all other rails are great. Will unhooking one matter. I installed th fifth in front of the hd in sx835.

the correct answer is, try it yourself. unhook, 1 or 2 of them, and see if the temps change. or, another option is to get some quieter fans.

Start by disconnecting the front fans, all of 'em. AMD does not recommend the use of front fans, and the best OEM systems, like Dell, don't use 'em, either. Your case allows for easy airflow, so even low cfm case fans can do the job well.... A sx835 is basically overfanned from the factory, to cover the worst case scenario.

But if you have no front fans it pulls in a lot of dust.

Without filters, IDM- it don't matter. Push or pull the air thru the case, dust accumulation depends on airflow. Only a certain percentage settles out, anyway, computers aren't very good filters- most of it goes right on thru. Less airflow= less dust.

For comparison, I run a 2100+ at 13x164 w/ an OEM fan w/ thermal pad. Full load (SoB) runs consistently 52-53C. That's w/ case temps in the 35-38 range. Stable. 😀

Note: The MSI board seems to report CPU temps quite a bit higher than other boards...something about the diode??

Yeah you will have to test your own environment. Try to keep positive case pressure though if you don't like dust.

Absolutely not. The truth is you probably don't need any of them. The only truly necessary fans are the cpu fan and the power supply fan. Its definately a good idea to keep another fan running somewhere to keep the air moving though. Unhook some fans if they are too loud for you, the pc will probably still run fine.

I have 2100+ at stock speed with an SK-7 topped by Panaflo L1A. I have an Antec TruPower 330 (2 fans), one rear exhaust and one intake side. Temps 43 degrees after an hour of UT2003.

Temps in the mid 30's especially at full load are most likely false. (Air Cooling)

Water Cooling is hard enough to reach those kind of temps.

The person that says his 2100 on his MSI is running Low 50's probebly has the more accurate temp probe.

It is possible that with all the fans blowing air into and out of the case you are getting wrong readings.

Or you are reading off the wrong Thermo Sensor.
