I think memory snobbery is a riot. Do you folks realize how minor the performance difference is in high-cost RAM and low-cost RAM? Especially on newer hardware, and *really* on the AMD64 designs, extra $ spent on RAM has just a tiny, tiny payoff. Most people are far better off, rather than spending $180 on 1G of high-dollar RAM, to spend the same $ and get 1.5GB of RAM - or spend just $120 and get 1G of RAM, 2x512. Even a quick look at Anandtech/etc.'s reviews says RAM nowadays isn't worth getting excited about - put the money into a better video card or a better CPU (or your wallet), perhaps.
