21:9 on one screen

This just seems too wide for me, even for just watching video:

16:10 is getting more difficult to find, everything's going 16:9, and now they come out with this.

The argument for 16:10 going away is that it takes more resources, so how about 21:9?
Seems 21:9 is going to take far more resources than 16:10.

I don't know, I don't think this is going to take off personally.

.

I think it's great. Cinema is actually really close to 21:9 AR so even on 16:9 widescreen HDTV's they have to letterbox movies or cut off the sides.

Also great for gaming. I play on an Eyefinity setup, which admittedly is wider than it needs to be. 3x 1280x1024 monitors was actually great for Eyefinity before I upgraded my monitors, wide enough to make games more immersive without going too wide, and this monitor would approach that immersion without having to deal with multi-monitor configuration or bezels.

Course I'm too used to having multi-monitors for multitasking, so I would still use that 21:9 monitor for gaming/movies along with a side monitor or two

21:9 will certainly not take off anytime soon for tv. 99.9% of programs would end up having black bars on the side as opposed to the .1% having black bars on the top and bottom. personally I think it would be a good aspect ratio for gaming though as eyefinity/surround are not really ideal and most people want a single large monitor.

2560x1080 would be very interesting in the 25"+ range I think.

Yea, 25" diagonal at that ratio would be the same height (~9.8") as a 20" 16:9 monitor which is entry level size.

A 29" 21:9 screen would be 11.3" tall x 27" wide and the same height as my 23" 16:9 screen and would be very nice I think.

Glad im not the only one doing the math 😀
