Just saw this in the Best Buy ad...

a 20X/10X/40X cd burner for only $250. It is made my Yahama, but I wonder when will Plextor release their 20X write cd-rw?

A link to the page in the ad is

There will be no 20x writing throughout the entire disk, it's physically impossible. Not even Plextor or TDK, they'll be using Zone-CLV or something like that from now on, similar to Yamaha's P-CAV, but Yamaha's P-CAV is much smoother, and their SafeBurn technology creates a much smaller gap than BURNProof during pause/resume.

A friend of mine just bought a TDK writer that advertises 24X write from Circuit City.

At first I didn't believe him but I just saw the box tonight at his house.

He hasn't installed it yet so I don't know how well it works. He's supposed to try it out tomorrow.

I'm waiting for Plextor's 24x solution. Should see it by end of July.

TDK does have the VeloCD 24/10/40 out now, but I'm still waiting for Plextor. :D

Sanyo's new Burn-proof creates zero gaps.

Just got a Plextor 16x. I can burn a 80 min. CD in around 5 minutes. Talk about an improvement from my 2x CD-RW that took around 40-45 minutes. I'm not complaining; this drive should last me a while.
