Philips

Sony/Optiarc

Now there is a choice of brands. Both are 20X DVD burners with DVD-RAM support using an EIDE interface. C'mon, where's the $24-shipped SATA burners?!?!?

$23.99
free shipping
no rebates
no coupon codes

EDIT: Now choice of brands.

For anyone interested, this is the same inside as the Liteon 20A1P, and can be cross-flashed to that model.

I like IDE but its being phased out so quickly I cannot justify getting stuck with another. Sorry I bought my last 2 ide HDs from mid last year. I suspect this is just the beginning of dumping old ide equip at firesale prices.

There is a Lite-On 20x SATA burner on their site for $27.99/shipped. That's a good price for a SATA burner. I don't use IDE burners on any current builds I do anymore.

FWIW i had an optiarc crap out after about 5 months. Not at all a heavy user, maybe about 12 cd rips, a few game installs, and 20-30 burns on the thing. I ordered it as i was an NEC fan, but i think sony had the last laugh in the end.
