Aquaman.....
In Ian Flemming's novels it was written that the Original Bond's watch of choice was a plain Stainless Steel Rolex Oyster Perpetual with large Phospherous Indicies....
When this was translated into the Movies it was decided that a Stainless Steel Rolex Submariner would be used...
All of the Bond Characters up until the mid-point in Roger Moore's career wore Non Date Rolex Submariners on NATO style Nylon straps.
So Basically in all of the Connery Films, and a little more than Half of the Moore films Bond was sporting a Rolex. In one of the Connery films they did not have a Prop watch on hand and they had to use the Director's own Watch.
In the Middle of the Moore stint they switched to Digital Seiko's..which lasted throughout Dalton and only with Brosnan was Omega Introduced...this was a part of the "appearance update".
One of the Fashion coordinators for the film thought that Bond's image was getting dated and he needed an overhaul (Him Wearing Saville Row Suits and driving Aston Martins and Bently's would not appeal to the younger male audience) I also feel that there were some monetary influences involved seeing as there was so much blatant product placement. So with the upgrade of Bond he was given a More stylish watch which is more available to the masses, an Expensive euro suit, a BMW roadster, and a HP Jordina PDA (SP?) all in blatant product placement spots. Which is why I am surprised they went back to Aston Martin as it is not as easily attainable to the Masses as the BMW(Higher Price).
I find it somewhat Ironic that Omega is comming out with a Special Limited edition Watch (Funny how they call something made to the tune of over 10,000 pieces limited) to commemorate this film, when Omega has only been represented in the past three of the 20 made.
Also The Swatch Group, which owns Omega, is producing a line of those cheap Plastic jobs commemorating each of the 20 bond films...
both of which just says selling out to me, but who am I to judge.
Sorry kind of a Bond/Watch nut
