20pin to 24pin psu

If i have a 500W PSU and its a 20PIN....if i bought a 20->24 pin converter would it be the same as an original 24pin? I wanna Overclock on my Ultra D and this board requires about 480 to work nicely.

No it wouldn't. Some people say that it's safer just to plug the 20-pin in directly because using the adapter splits the 12v rail...

No need to buy a converter. You just insert the the PSU into the BOTTOM section (leave the top 4 pins unplugged)

Just drains your GPU of voltage a little bit.

Shouldn't be a problem with what you're running, I use it.
