i just brought a i915g motherboard & celeron d j

as the bookpc sized case can't install a 350w 24 pin PSU

i just have a 20pin PSU now ...

can it work correctly & safety?

I think you can purchase 24 - 20 pin adapters and vice versa, but im not to sure. I wouldnt risk destroying the whole thing though.

You don't need an adapter.

As it turns out, you can use a 20-pin power supply connector with an LGA775 motherboard. The 20-pin connector only plugs into the 24-pin socket one way. According to a source at a system builder, that should deliver enough power for 3.2GHz processors or lower. Also, you can get adapter cables that will plug a 20-pin power supply into the 24-pin connector, such as this one from StarTech. All that does is split a 12V rail, but the ATX12V 2.0 standard calls for separate 12V for the additional pins.
