that's really farking pathetic.

I've decided now and cleared it with Mrs. Skoorb that when the time comes for next car it may very well be a Spec-V! Depending on job situation now I'm thinking a fall schedule for purchase. I absolutely must have one.

Well basically my job situation is really up in the air now but should be figured out one way or the other in a month or two. Then it will just get harder and harder to not buy it. Course if we end up in Canada the damn car will cost around $25k :( God I hope we don't!

Nice car :)

I'm just curious, and I'm not being sarcastic or anything, but whats so great about the Spec-V? I mean I can only look at pics, much less see one on the street or ride in one as they dont sell them in the UK. Whats so great? Class leading?

Any cool Spec-V sites?

10 months! I got news last week that if they can't find a project for me and another guy by months' end we're gone (some chick they just told to leave). SO i have to see if they find one, or if not if I can get a job elsewhere in the US fast...otherwise up to Ontario where mrs. skoorb can get a job right away.

In a way that's true but in the US I'm worth around $50k/year US give or take. In Canada I'm more like $45k/year CAN!

migroo... deviating from the original topic a bit-- but basicaly it just has to do with it being the best car ever for the price

for 18k, my 4door sedan is faster than a 22k 2 door celica gt-s coupe, eclipse gsr, rsx type S, civic si, focus svt... etc..... , seats more people, cargo space, and gets 28-30mpg. insurance is a lot better too.

You mean the 20k blown part didn't? :Q

It's true the interior is a bit cheap ish but then they have to cut corners somewhere and I'd rather have it in the dash board than the engine. And exterior it still is the bee's knee.

Typical....at the car show I was at last night two imports showed up.....all decked out with body kits....lowered.....rims....system.....but nothing under the hood. (Cept for an intake, headers, and exhaust.....damn that must be fast) One guy who owned the Civic probably put over $8 grand into his car so far and any of the American cars that showed up would have smoked it even if they had given the Civic a 5 second head start.

thanks :)

for the specV:
180hp
180tq

Combine that with the Limited Slip Differential, 17'' alloy wheels, Z rated tires, sports tuned suspension and clutch..... pack that all in a car that only weighs 2700lbs and you've got yourself a hell of a sleeper.

hopefully this summer NISMO is going to start making some nice aftermarket parts for the V and then i'll soup it up a little. :)

Yeah not bad torque ratings. You look at the Matrix XRS with 180 HP and it's got 130 torque at some obscene RPM. Now 4400 RPM for 180 torque is fairly high for the nissan as well but still that's a good bit of torque for a small import.

Now now now... no embellishing. Nissan dropped the rating to 175/175, and this article disputes even that figure.

That being said, I still almost bought one. The performance of that car is spectacular for the money. The 6 speed is as smooth as silk, and the handling is wonderful. The only reason I didn't buy one is because of the colour scheme of the interior. (an extremely loud red)

if you read a little more-- the engine actually is rated to 180/180. i'll take mine out and hook it up to a dyno to prove it. However, when nissan saw that so much power was being lost at the tranny, (the V puts down about 150hp at the wheels).. rather than explain a 30hp loss,... they lowered the publicized rating of the engine to make it look like less of a loss of power. Still, its a hell of a car.

<< Nissan's revised power claim of 175 hp at 6000 rpm is more realistic than the original 180-hp claim, but is still a long way from the 141 hp produced on the dyno. Our experience with the drivetrain loss varies greatly (see "Technobabble," page 22), but it seems unlikely any front-drive transaxle could make 34 hp evaporate into thin air. >>

See above.

BTW, this doesn't diminish my liking of the car. I still think they are fast and handle great no matter what a magazine says.

I only call them as I see 'em. :)

Nate, they were also working with a brand new, un-broken in engine. Almost every spec-v i've seen dyno'ed has put up 5-10 more HP after about 3-4000 miles on it.
