$205 BFG 6800oc vs. $160-180 6600 GT

I'm very tempted to drop $205 on the BFG 6800oc, but I'm wondering whether it's worth the extra money over a regular 6600 GT. (Now available from $160 on up, from a lowly underclocked and poorly overclocking Chaintech 6600 GT for $160 to an underclocked Leadtek 6600 GT for $179.)

Aside from the lifetime warranty, here's how they stack up:

6800: 256 bit interface, 12 pipes, but clock speeds are only 350 (core) x 700 (memory).

6600: 128 bit interface, 8 pipes, but clock speeds are 500 (core) x 900 or 1000 (memory).

The 6800's seem to outperform the 6600 GT's, but not by that much. Is it pretty much a tossup? Is the following calculation a good way to look at it?

6800: 350 core x 12 pipes = 4200

6600 GT: 500 core x 8 pipes = 4000

Maybe I'll be able to bring myself to get the 6800oc; I'd long thought it was a pretty sweet card but then I got interested in the 6600 GT's.

Get the 6800OC, the clock speeds dont make that much of a difference. The 6800 outperforms the 6600GT consistenty, especially with AA or AF.

Also, if the 6800 can successfully unlock the extra 4 pipes and vertex shader, then you have another boost in performance. Go with the 6800.

Another vote for a 6800. IIRC, the BFG cooler isn't that quiet, tho, so look for an equally-priced Leadtek or MSI, if you can. If noise doens't bother you, then the BFG's extra warranty and out-of-the-box core OC are nice.

Edit: Check out keys' Leadtek 6800 FS.
