Good morning everybody (yes, it's 10:30 am in Belgium)
I have a 19" iiyama Vision Master Pro 450 screen which has (in theory) a maximum resolution of 1600x1200 à 85Hz. But since I installed Powerstrip, new resolutions have appeared, 1920x1440 and even 2048x1536 ! I tried them for a few seconds and they worked (2048x1536 @ 72Hz) but I was wondering if there was any risk for the screen, 2048x1536 on a 19 inch screen seems abnormally high to me. Is there any kind of protection if you go too high ?
Thanks.

There shouldn't be any harm, but it may not be good for the monitor in the long run. It's kind of like overclocking a CPU, so it'll probably decrease your monitor's life. However, this kind of resolution is not abnormal for a 19", many high end 19" models are capable of doing such resolutions.

well besides that, there's probably no benefit to running at resolutions above spec, your probably making the pictures worse:p

Yes, I thought it might just be funny to try a 3D game in 2048x1536 with 4x4 FSAA to get the Gforce II on its knees...

You're not really making pictures worse, in fact such resolutions are better for CAD works and stuff. But I dont see the point of using anything beyond 1600x1200 for windows operations and stuff, plus you wont get anything higher than 1600x1200 in games.

Are you sure? I'm not sure about this but isn't there a point where you don't have atleast a 1:1 ratio for pixels to screen elements?
