The tournament will take place from June 11 to July 19, 2026. It will be jointly hosted by 16 cities in three North American countries; the main host country of matches is the United States, while Canada and Mexico will be the auxiliary hosts. The tournament will be the first hosted by three nations...

Wonder how the U.S. part of that will work out. Travel to the US has already taken a hit with horror stories of detentions for slight visa discrepancies. Or phone checks looking through messages or social media posts where saying or sharing the wrong thing about the US or Trump could be grounds for denied entry. Am sure things will be sorted out by then as I dont think Trump or his team would want to screw this up and be mocked and ridiculed further as the worst Clown-in Chief in US history.

Still would be a hard thing to implement or oversee when numbers of arrivals are expected to be in the few millions. Any name mismatch or errors or coincidental info that innocents may have resembling that of terrorists or trouble-makers can easily occur. Will ones political leanings or viewpoints on US politics or Trump or foreign policy be taken into account? Will those with social media posts critical of the US or Israel be detained or denied entry?

All I see is with Trump in charge, the worst can be expected to happen.

Btw, Iran has qualified for the tournament and its citizens must be allowed into the US to attend their matches. Of course all this was negotiated before Trump but you never know what this fuckwit may do. Even worse is if he ratchets up tensions with Iran or heaven forbid starts a war with them.

If he should selectively deny which countries citizens can or cannot enter the US to support their participating teams, pretty sure it will be unacceptable by the rest of the rational world.

At the end USA will try to buy the cup even worse like South Korea did.
Even Russia managed to pull the trick since their team is competent enough, but USA is not the case.

If I’m Carney, I’d be making hay about bidding for the US games and filing some sort of injunction with FIFA based on all the border detentions Europeans have already been subject to. Make it a campaign issue.

Election is on April 28th, not enough time.

As a fan of the game, though not FIFA, this is a legitimate concern for any player and fan who wants to attend in the US, there is no reasonable expectation of safety for any of them at this point, and not from the American public, but the literal American administration. I hope it starts to come up - and not to fuck with America - but for the actual safety of all those millions of people who want to come here, and for the players and team staff who 'have' to come here.
