2026 7th Annual Folding Challenge

For anyone without an account at [H]:

Yes it is that time of year again. We are gathering teams and putting things in motion. Get those boxen cleaned out, upgraded, stress tested, and heating your homes. It is time to do some Folding@home to commemorate the ending of the bigadv work units that ended a dynasty of some of the best distributed computing competitions. This year will be like previous. It will be the last week of January.

When: The event will be Jan 24 10AM PST - 31st 10AM PST. This should allow us to avoid any conflict with PrimeGrid's month long challenge through February.
Whom: Any team wanting to partake merely need to let us know.
Rules: Pretty simple. Fire up what you can afford and let it ride. We aren't judging people based on their wallets. Its all for a good cause. The most points earned within the event timeline wins the race.
What stats will be used: Real time updates via https://ehwfoldingstats.lazypenguin.com/ maintained by @firedfly for monitoring purposes. It will only show the top 1,000 or so members of each team. Final stats will be the stats before and at the end of the event based on EOC's stats reporting. https://folding.extremeoverclocking.com/

I am in if it does not conflict with a PG event,.
It doesn't...mostly. It shouldn't conflict at all with any official PG challenges. February is Tour de Primes, where we try to find primes as individuals. Team stats for that are unofficial. But it can be bunkered for. A little. Looks like 4 days for the likely projects.

I'm likely to switch CPUs to bunkering for TdP before the end of the folding challenge.

Is tour-de-primes a CPU event ? if so, no problem. I will only do GPU for F@H and CPU for PG most likely.

TdP is an everything event. I just think my CPUs would be better at TdP than F@H, for those last four days when WUs I run won't expire before the event actually starts.

Bumping this thread since it starts tomorrow at 1PM E/T. Go to this link to see the start time in your local time and also view the stats once it starts - https://ehwfoldingstats.lazypenguin.com/33

Competition is looking to be fiercer than ever with several new teams added to the mix. While in recent years we've dominated most BOINC competitions, Folding@home is another story and in this challenge last year we were 3rd place out of 5 teams. To have any chance at a high position we're going to need to really bring it and anybody that can contribute to the cause is much appreciated. I'm currently working on getting more of my machines added to Folding@home now since the Primegrid challenge just finished. If anybody needs any help setting up Folding@home or has any questions please don't hesitate to ask.

and I am sorry, but I will have over 100 mill ppd idle, as I have the machines off. I am doing this for safety reasons, as I just replaced my 4th outlets with burned wires and outlet blew.

I will have about 100 mil ppd online though

Unofficial team stats and individual stats are also tracked at The FPS Review forum, planned to be updated twice a day: At 12am CST (0600 UTC) and 12pm CST (1800 UTC).

Deviations between these stats and the official ones from [H]ard|OCP may happen if EOC and I end up fetching different database dumps from foldingathome.org. Which should be a rare occurrence because these dumps are updated once per hour, but the exact time of their updating is drifting a little.

[H]ard|OCP's and my stats will always differ from the lazypenguin live stats however, because the latter uses a different API at foldingathome.org. As a result, I actually have a little more active members listed in the individual ranking than lazypenguin has (e.g. 403 versus 386 today at 12pm CST).
