Honestly their terrible coverage last summer Olympics if you just had Peacock is why I have zero interest this year. There were times last year where they stopped a live broadcast of US athletes to show an ad or only showed certain US athletes on cable and not through streaming. Not to mention their refusal to give you a chance to watch a pre-recorded event before their designated release time. "Sorry even though the event ended 13 hours ago and we have all the video you must wait till 8pm to watch this event because we said so". That allowed plenty of time for random headlines or conversations about a marquee event or major victory/defeat to work their way into your day

Peacock has been showing the events in their entirety without cutting away for ads or stories about individuals. I rather prefer this straight coverage of an event without cutaways to talk about some US athlete's sick grandma watching from Topeka or whatever.

I agree they need to just release the events to streaming as soon as they happen. But they reeeaaaallllly want people to only watch the marquee events like gymnastics or whatever only in the evening. It's weird.

Also TIL Athens hosted the Olympic Games in 1906! But the IOC retroactively has demoted these games from the official records because they don't fit into the historical 4 year cadence of an Olympiad. According to Wiki, both the 1900 and 1904 games were relative failures, so 1906's success is a big reason the modern Games were not canceled.

Peacock has been decent, though their website and the player are a bit lackluster (cannot choose bitrate). AFAICT the replays have been available all day for the women's gymnastics final, but I had a hard time finding the replay for the swimming events that happened yesterday, I think it was available just hard to find it as it was part of a long broadcast replay. The only instance I noticed where the replay definitely wasn't available until US primetime was the opening ceremony.

Thunderstorms overnight left the river running fast, the bike course was soaked which caused dozens of accidents. Did the best athlete win or the won who survived the course?

Organizers who designed this course with tight turns, uneven cobblestones, and other impediments did the sport no favors. This should have been held outside Paris!

The one US vs Morocco? That challenge near the end, I thought is was falsely awarded. Elbow did not touch the net, it was clear. They won anyway but it was torturous, the heat. It was the 9th or 10th match point that ended it! A net serve no less.

Bet you one thing, that won't happen in L.A. in 2028. Rain this time of year can happen (it might be happening now, with a rare tropical moisture event), but it's very unlikely. I grew up there, but the climate IS changing. The weather in L.A., even so, is much more consistent than in Europe. However, heat is apt to be an issue in L.A.!

Based on what I saw on the reddit thread, if you miss the tackle you are screwed. the rest of the team has to be prepared for when the ball is passed off to another team mate. There is no 'prevent' defense like in the NFL where you can keep some of your players back. Everyone is on the line covering someone.

If #9 had tacked from the back (not a euphemism) that would have prevented passing the ball. There were only 7 seconds left.

He was probably only there to watch the Olympics with his family and while sitting in the stands looking at the program he noticed there was nobody for Turkey so he's like "guys hold my beer I'm gonna go sign up for this" and went down and signed up and got in.
