Hill isn't going to be disciplined by the NFL: https://sports.yahoo.com/nfl-wont-discipline-tyreek-hill-140654531.html

I'm not sure that its been reported yet by anyone credible so I don't know if its true or not (and a lot of Chiefs fans have gone off the deepend and are full on screaming conspiracy garbage and other crap and raging about SJWs; there are some though that are raging and want Hill kicked off the team still), but I've seen some people claiming that the FBI is actually investigating the fiancee and her family for extortion. Seems that Hill is saying it was done because they were having a rough time and were considering separation and there was talk of custody. The recording apparently happened without Hill's knowledge while they were in an airport in Dubai (for some reason I thought it was just her having recorded them talking on the phone). But apparently they might still be together?

I don't know, lots of weirdness involved, but it seems like this might mostly be just young people relationship drama that got blown up because of Hill's status. Which perhaps she legitimately believed Hill did break his arm (for whatever reason, I've seen some claim her family was telling her and I believe its been reported that family members were the ones that reported the abuse claims against them; which she says on the recording that their son was saying that daddy broke his arm but that might have been not what it seemed because children don't comprehend how phrasing affects what they're conveying), but after the investigation she feels that isn't true.

Which, the DA had said the case was reopened after the release of the audio, apparently it never actually was, and they've since admitted as much and said they aren't considering any charges. The Kansas child welfare department is still investigating and is monitoring things (basically making them go through parent counseling) and I don't think they've gotten custody back yet (but will almost certainly be scrutinized like crazy). I saw somewhere (might've been same place I saw the FBI stuff, so again, might be unreliable), that they don't think the broken arm was actually suspicious (so wasn't the type that tends to be common in child abuse cases?), and that the investigation came about because someone on her side of the family kept reporting abuse.

If things change, I'd expect a pretty harsh penalty. The CBA negotiations could play a role (or vice versa; which is why I think the league is taking a cooler heads approach to this stuff this year).

Wasn't there another player that had some situation where their family was trying to extort money and released claims against them to the media? Then one of the family got arrested and something about a hitman (and that's when it was reported about the claims having been tied to them trying to extort the player). And then the family started telling the media the player threatened to kill them or something? Er, just realized it was Tyrann Mathieu and it came out this year, I think after the Hill stuff started even.

So assuming nothing new comes out, wonder what happens with Hill's contract negotiations (he's on final year of his rookie contract). Chiefs effectively drafted his potential replacement this year (and reports are he's been impressing, but obviously will need to see if that translates to the games; with Hill back he'll probably take over return duties, spell Hill some here and there, and then him and Hill will probably serve as game of shells gadget/trick/misdirection). Chiefs have Mahomes' extension looming. They just paid Frank Clark (which will be interesting to see how that turns out). I think they just gave Mathieu a pretty decent sized contract too. They were talking extension for Chris Jones but not sure that will be feasible. They gave Anthony Hitchens a pretty big contract last year (that he didn't live up to last year; we'll see if that changes with the new defense, coach and scheme), and Watkins is still getting paid quite a bit (there's been some hype for him this offseason, which he's good but he's been off the field so much due to injuries in his career; think his contract is up after the 2020 season, and even if he plays great and is healthy the next two years don't see the Chiefs being able to retain him).

Speak of it and it appears: https://sports.yahoo.com/heres-why-...or-tyreek-hill-remains-in-play-225239760.html

Which, holy shit, if Hill is back, and Hardman can come anywhere close to comparing to Hill, and Watkins plays to his potential, the Chiefs are gonna have a potentially even scarier offense this year. They have a couple of other receivers that are decently speedy too (one caught the 89 yard 50th TD of the season). I think o-line should be about a wash (might actually be better, Eric Fisher apparently finished the season as one of the best tackles in the league). They'd be better if they still had Hunt, but I'm not sure if that will be that big of a loss, especially if the receivers be anywhere close to what they're capable of. Williams didn't play bad and should be more integrated into the offense. Defense almost couldn't be worse (they actually had some good defense here and there, it just wasn't consistent and broke down too much against good offenses; plus lots of it was scheme/coaching - apparently they didn't make defensive adjustments during the 2nd half of games; and then bonehead penalties like Dee Ford lining up offsides negating Brady's likely game losing INT in the AFC Championship game). This season likely is the Chiefs best chance at winning the Super Bowl. I think they might even have a bit more money they could spend on a free agent, so they could possibly end add a worthwhile piece after training camp/preseason cuts (some want them to trade Reggie Ragland to Washington who now needs a 3-4 ILB, in exchange for Josh Norman).

Am I the only one sick of all the Browns hype? WTF has this team done in the last 20 years? They've had 3 winning seasons in the last 20 years for crying out loud. And last year was not one of them. And if you look at the teams they were playing, they caught opponents at bad times, or were playing mediocre teams. I understand a win is a win, but I was not impressed with their strength of schedule last year. This year's strength of schedule isn't that impressive either and I've got them going 8-8.

Baker BLEEPING Mayfield needs to grow up. What the hell has he actually accomplished in the NFL? Can he win a playoff game before he acts like a diva? Act with some class. It's possible to be critical, but still not come off looking like a complete douche.

When you’re only a year removed from going 0-16 then 8-8 seems pretty damn sweet. And agreed the Browns hype train is a bit over the top this year but on paper they have a good team. Unfortunately they’ll need to get through a gauntlet of better teams like KC, Indy, Chargers, and yes the Pats to go deep in the playoffs.

No. Mayfied is not. At least not yet. Not by a longshot.

The guy you hate when he's not on your team is someone who has done something. Mayfield is nowhere near there. Aside from solidifying his reputation as a douche, what has he accomplished in the NFL?

Mayfield had a decent rookie season, but nothing spectacular, and did not even have a winning record. The competition in the games Mayfield did win were mediocre. Was what Mayfield did promising? Yes. Do the Browns have some decent talent? Yes. But as with the Philadelphia Dream Team of 2011, things can fall apart extremely fast.

Cam Newton is an example of the guy you hate when he's not on your team. Injuries aside, he is a good QB who showboats way too much and if you're on the opposing side, this will annoy you to no end. Mayfield has a very long way to go before he reaches that status.

'Skins already in regular season form in getting their asses handed to them.

As a life-long Giants fan this pleases me greatly! :p ;)
(to be fair pre-season means nothing)

Also unfortunately I suspect that sour-grapes is going to be the best I can do this NFL season!

As for the Browns, I wouldn't worry about beating the class of the league just yet, try beating the Steeler's & the Raven's first then we'll talk.

I love these

'We let Brown and Bell go, presumably so we could continue to pander to an aging quarterback whose inability to read a defense is matched only by his unwillingness to seek consent. '

'Have a coach that goes 9-6-1 and has never had a losing season? FIRE HIM. A top-3 running back who wants to get paid in his only chance at a less than premium position? GET HIS ASS OUT OF TOWN. Have a WR who is upset that his quarterback can go on the local radio and bash him in public, all for non-guaranteed money? WE HOPE HE DIES ON HIS WAY TO OAKLAND. I am convinced there is no dumber fan base in the history of the world. '

Love the Why Your Team Sucks series. Always an entertaining read. The sad part for the franchises are many of the points hit home.

Also, look up Scooter Magruder on Youtube. I skip most of his non football videos as I'm not a huge fan of the other sports, but I find his NFL stuff entertaining. Even if he is a Cowboys fan.

The Redskins "Why Your Team Sucks" is 10000% accurate.

I really do feel your pain & as mentioned I'm fairly certain its going to be a LOOOOONG year of getting smacked around for NY too.

I really wish Eli retired gracefully.

Edit: Giants WYTS's is pretty accurate too

NYG and WAS are so far below DAL and PHI that is pains me to even acknowledge it. But it's just the cold hard truth right now. I really only can hope that both those teams go like 9-7 or 8-8 wins the division and the whole NFCE is just shit. And then whoever wins the NFCE is one and done in the playoffs.

So who will finish last this year and pick 1st in the 2020 draft? Gotta be either MIA or WAS methinks.
