2019 Ford Edge 2.0L Turbo

What's the word on this car/engine?

Had it as rental (Titanium), pretty newish with 2.5K miles on it and we liked it a lot.

How are those engines in a long run. Anybody knows?

I'm not sure about the 2 liter turbo, but if it's built anything like the 3.5L turbo, it's a pretty strong engine, other than the water pump. Water pump is internal to the engine and often requires entire engine replacement if the water pump fails, which on the 3.5L has been quite common in the 100-125k range.

Our water pump failed on the 3.5 ecoboost. It failed with the fluid dripping outside the engine though, so no engine had to be replaced. I noticed the leaking fluid and 2 days later had it in the shop (its a company car, so the company pays to fix it). Also had issues with timing chain stretch which required another lengthy stay in the shop. Overall, great engine though. Very reliable, pretty powerful, and overall nice running.

Wife loves her 2010 Ford Edge (no turbo though) ...
It's got the 3.5L. around 110K miles or so .... I wonder if I should just ask my mechanic to swap out the water pump before it fails ... I'm sure it will cost quite a bit, but, should be a LOT cheaper than rebuilding an engine ...

I'd look into the design of the 2.0 a bit more, but I would expect that Ford would have fixed this issue on any newer generation engine.

Just had mine replaced. Ford must have come down on the cost somewhat. Original online estimates had the repair at like $1200 with labor, very intensive job. However, my total cost including labor through my local Ford Dealership was just around $500. I have 2013 Ford Edge SEL Ecoboost, with about 126k miles on it.
