Who's claiming it is a sport? Last I checked, it was called the "Olympic Games."

Also, curling fucking owns.

It's one of those strange Olympic sports/games that almost no one watching has ever done (running, jumping, swimming, diving, skiing, skating, sledding, etc. are pretty ubiquitous but not curling, bobsledding, etc.)

Like a lot of winter Olympic events, I won't generally watch the male version and end up rooting for the hottest females.

bowling isn't in but curling is.

officially, bowling isn't in because it's too expensive for youth in the developing world. if that were really the criteria used to determine if something should be in the games, there wouldn't be a winter olympics at all.

Yeah I can't imagine how bowling is more expensive than skiing or hockey or...anything else. Though maybe it's easier to find a snowy mountain to hurl yourself down, by whatever means, in the developing world compared to finding a bowling alley.....

Table shuffleboard > curling. You don't need a parka and it can be played with a beer in one hand.

According to one of the Canadians I work with the official rules for curling allow for beer in hand while playing. Since he owns his own broom and curling shoes I believe him.

Or bobsled or luge lol. I'm not even sure of anywhere you can just go practice on a track. I imagine the liability issues would make it near impossible to run a public one.

Wow, that last shot from the USA was horrible. She should have been able to knock out the yellow stone in scoring position without removing more than one of their own stones.

You should have watched the US men play... they made an awesome final shot to take out the Canadians.

One of these days I'll understand the scoring system, but most likely I'll just continue to laugh at how dumb of a sport it is... but for some reason continue to watch it when it comes on.

I went to school with a lot of Canadians, and for them curling was less a sport than an excuse to drink. Not that they needed much of an excuse.
