Since America has spoken this last election do you think the GOP should tack left to try and regain some ground?

Maybe lighten up on abortion and health care?
I think a better strategy would be for republicans to start supporting people who are at least decent human beings. And that have at least a minimal standard of intelligence.

Does it mean changing political boundaries to favor one party or class over another ? Why, yes, yes it does and that's what happened in California.

What happened in California is your party tried to blame everything on immigrants. Conservatives tried to restrict immigration by passing a referendum cutting off immigrant access to most public services.

What was a solid 54 red electoral votes for Reagan and Bush and earlier, turned blue and it has stayed that way for a generation.

You're doing the same thing all over again, only on a larger scale. Don't be surprised that people turn against you.

No, no its not. California's districts were decided by a non partisan body that consisted of Democrats, Republicans, and independents. Republicans lost seats in California because they suck. None of the policies you "conservatives" believe in were implemented, except tax cuts, despite controlling all three branches of government. People are simply tired of Republican politics.

How dare you expect Republicans to compete on level playing field? :colbert:

The last time Orange County was redistricted was 2012, it was done by the Citizens Redistricting Commission made up of 5 Democrats, 5 Republicans, and 4 from neither major party, and requires a supermajority of votes to pass a change to a district, and after the change it went Republican.

The Republicans lost Orange County because the Republican majority there was based on votes from culturally conservative Asian-American, Middle Eastern, and Latino groups. All of which the Republican party has alienated with their decidedly racist attitudes since Trump took office. Just look at who Orange County Republicans were sending to Congress. It was not the normal middle aged white dudes of the Republicans. The conservative people that Orange County voted for in previous elections do not feel welcome in the current Republican party.

It is the Party that changed, not Orange County.

Redistricting in CA took place in 2012 but the GOP held orange county until 2018 so obviously something else changed the outcome, like the will of the voters.

Don't pay too much attention to taj, folks, he's just upset that his dreams of an eternal Republican dictatorship are dying and that he has to sit and watch as the Democrats retake government and start restoring some semblance of accountable democracy.

I imagine he is referring to the jungle primary which means Taj is angry that the top two vote getters in the primary advance to the general, regardless of party.

He is apparently outraged that the election is based on who gets the most votes, which is hilarious.

When you cannot even get spot number two, you should legislate a place for yourself.

Looks like the last of the voted expected to favor the R in CA-21 came in and they helped the Dem challenger expand his lead, so yea looking done.

Final Democratic gain of 40 house seats and basically armageddon in CA for the GOP.

That doesn't even apply. There was a Republican on the general election ballot for every HOR seat in Orange County & they all lost. In districts that were established for the 2012 election.
