2016 Sell and Upgrade Advice?

Hello, I bought a 980 Ti brand new last summer for $700 USD and it's been a great card for my 1440p needs. But, now with the news of Pascal and Polaris on the horizon, I was looking for some advice on the right time to sell my 980 Ti to get the most money back on it without waiting too long before getting a faster card. I don't care if it's AMD or Nvidia, I just want whatever's going to be roughly fastest and first for a reasonable price.

I'm not rich, so I don't want to wait until right around or after a faster card releases and watch my card's value drop to $300 or something. I'm not even sure if I'm going to need to upgrade for 2016 1440p gaming, but with current used 980 Ti prices it looks like I might not even lose much money if I time the selling and upgrade right. Is that correct?

I'd be just fine using my integrated GPU or a used cheap one from ebay for a month or two ahead of time, but could anyone recommend how to know when newer high-end cards are incoming? What kind of signs should I look for and is it easily predictable?

Also, are we even getting cards much faster than a 980 Ti this year? I keep seeing and hearing people talk about small GPUs releasing first because 16nm is expensive so where does that leave people in my shoes?

Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate any advice or information you can give. :)

Its really just guesswork when it comes to things like this. Just wait till you see a actual benchmark before making a decision.

Given the 1440p needs, you should wait.

Besides, that card you have now will be fine for a year or more.
