I find it humorous to see car and driver allude to a genuine apples and ball peen hammers comparison between a ecoboost mustang and the flagship C7. Trolling at it's finest :)

Most car publications seem to be enamored with GM lately. MT has a hard-on for the Camaro and I'm sorry but it's not as nice as the new Mustang. The interior looks and feels like cheap crap compared to the Ford.

It's a good comparison, imo.

Many people buy the EB Mustang to get high performance with high fuel economy, but later realize they can only get one or the other with a small displacement turbocharged engine in a heavy car.

That's not my point. I find it funny that blowhards in general try to twist a point to fit their own agenda.

My point is that an Ecoboost engine not driven for fuel economy will not get you anywhere close to the EPA numbers. Someone buying a Mustang will not be hypermiling or taking it easy, otherwise their interest would probably be somewhere else. I'm not putting down Ford or what people do with their money, but I guess you would rather turn it into an argument and put words into my mouth.

I was making a general statement. Thinking it applies to you is your issue.

Yeah, I'm going to have to agree with those saying the EPA numbers are not practical unless you are a granny. The modern EPA numbers for turbos are pretty bogus. I have a Cruze with the I4 turbo and it was advertised as 40mpg, but only gets ~30 over the 100k that's been put on it which is nearly all highway. You can not use the turbo at all during acceleration or your fuel economy is nearly cut in half. Staying out of boost feels really bad, you know, like an NA I4 with a restricted exhaust system...

Then, I have a 2014 GMC Sierra with the V8. I've been getting exactly if not better than EPA ratings on it. The boosted cars and trucks are treated too nicely in the testing.

FWIW, I had a 135i that would cruise quite nicely out of boost, but it didn't get near 30mpg.
