I guess this is extremely important when driving up a ramp filled with rollers. In 99.99% of real world driving you don't need it unless you have a rutted, muddy driveway with a 25% grade.

Or in the snowiest city in the country.

But why buy something inferior?

Why buy an inferior car with AWD for the 2 days of the year in which you may need it, assuming you live in the snowiest city in the US? Driving a Subaru is a punishment for anyone who either

A) - enjoys driving
B) - enjoys technology
C) - enjoys luxury

Now I live in Michigan and I have never gotten stuck in the snow in my life on a road. I have done a good bit of offroading and have managed to bury a Jeep or three in deep snow, but for the blizzard we get once or twice a year I have never had an issue. People managed to survive without AWD for quite a long time.

Subaru AWD comes in handy almost daily for five months of the year in central NY. 🙂

As noted earlier, it is also the safest and most fuel efficient vehicle in its class.

Eh, I've made it through every winter with FWD vehicles as long as I've been alive. In fact, my 2011 Kia Soul with Traction Control is the best car I've personally driven in the snow, that thing plowed through everything!

one issue I have with these airbags is that they're only safe if you're a certain distance away from it. If you're too close to the airbags they actually cause more damage due to the inflation force. There is no warning about this and people have no clue about this.

I've never read or heard of anything negative about knee airbags - do you have any articles about this?

I definitely won't argue on the luxury part. You can spend $37,000 on a fully-loaded Forester XT Turbo with Eyesight and all of the interior aesthetic appeal of an Abrams tank 😛

Also shout out from a former Michigander, lived in Lansing for awhile. Never been so cold in my life
