Oh I get that, but I still don't, just because of how blatantly obvious what was going on. But I feel that same way about rape culture, racism, and a whole bunch of other shit. Where humanity just has a collective insanity or something. Suppose its easy to be a product of the progress born out of the struggle against that, with the hindsight of the knowledge, to be able to say how obvious it was.
The thing is though, he was describing something almost completely the opposite of what he was. So him having trained them to listen to him should have highlighted how fucking ridiculous the schism between himself and his claimed perfect man as he was telling them while being a fucking joke compared to it. If I'm not mistaken it wasn't even that he was saying that's the perfect man and he's a god, he was basically saying that the perfect Aryans essentially were living gods. Hell he even went out of his way to point exactly to people that actually epitomized his perfect man and so it wasn't like he was describing some mythical being and letting people just imagine what that was.
Say what you want, but Turmp always says fluffs himself and says he's the best. He'll blatantly lie like saying he's in perfect health and other shit, but he's always saying he's great. Hitler went out of his way to describe his perfect man as everything he wasn't and then to parade those people out highlighting how he was not that.
Well, first thing first, I don't think Hitler ever said if you aren't at least 6'0'' have blue eyes, golden blond hair, etc, you're some mongrel piece of shit. Not to mention, Hitler was probably above average height at the time (1920s), and hid his health issues. And it's not like he was on television every single day throughout the 1920s, with everyone able to see him.
That said, the most important part of authoritarianism is whether the population is ready for it.
About 30-40% of just about any population are authoritarians. Depending on the society they live in, they may be better trained than other authoritarians to immediately buy into whatever the fascist Strongman says.
Germans after WWI had been trained to believe that they had been backstabbed by Jewish Elites before, during, and after the war. Hitler and Friends created their own news sources, i.e. propaganda, and stated repeatedly that what they said was the truth, and everything else, was, uh, lets say, fake news.
For many people, there was very little faith in the Weimar government, with the German populace cheering on a non-aristocratic Hitler, who was going to, uh, shake things up, since he wasn't some elite politician.
And you throw on top of that outright scapegoating of minorities and other groups (Jews, Gypsies, homosexuals, Communists, Socialists, Labor Unions), and by declaring that you were going to make Germany Great Again with a German Empire that would provide lebensraum and would last 1000 years...and you have a population willing and able to buy into what the Strongman says.
Because ultimately, authoritarians seek to follow a rightful authority. Strongman Hitler was that rightful authority. So whatever he said, was truth. Everything else was lies and bias. Because Strongman Hitler was the rightful authority.
Hitler won elections, and the aristocratic elite politicians thought they could hold him in check and direct him, so that he'd end up accomplishing their goals, all under the cover of Nazism. While they weren't too happy about the outright anti-semitism, they thought it'd be kept in check, you know, through their sheer aristocratic political elite skills.
Again, sound slightly familiar? History doesn't repeat, but it rhymes.
A book that should be required reading by every US student is "The Authoritarians", by Bob Altemeyer.
Here it is, totally free to read online:

And, the author makes the subject matter easy to understand, and extremely entertaining, believe it or not.
You seem interested in how authoritarianism works, and how it enables fascists. You can't find a better read than what I linked to above.
