I really wanted this, and got it. I've put maybe 3 hours into it, maybe more...just can't get myself to play for very long. I got to the first town, and find the extensive amount of dialogue and options to be soul-crushing. I know--I just need to get through this part, and while I like the nostalgia of dialogue-driven RPG, most of this text is text simply for the sake of being there.

I find myself skipping nearly all of every conversation, because it is primarily filler expressions like "By the hoary sock of scoundrel's left toe, this was a day long sought and one not soon forgotten by such as pirates of last Winterhold and the day of first reckoning, for which great feasts were enjoyed and I once held court with the Autumn Queen of Senderfell!"

or some meaningless claptrap like that. Just say "That party was a blast!"

Yeah, the game is crap. I played 19 hours coop and hated every minute of it.

I wouldn't judge the game based on coop...it advertised that feature, but it's a single player RPG. It's much easier to manipulate the environment during combat when you control everyone in the party. Either way, why torture yourself for 19 hours if you hate it? I didn't bother with coop, and loved it.

Caved and bought Astebreed and BlazBlue...both on my list for a long time and both on best Steam sale so far, so figured what the hell. $9.50 for both.

It's the same game in coop as single player. I was on voice comms with the other player the whole time. It'd be even less entertaining without another person to laugh with when you get wiped out by absurdly overpowered enemies.

Valiant hearts is a cool little game so far. Easy, but theres a good bit of historical info about WW1 and the characters are likeable plus a neat little story.

Also picked up the mount and blade set. Been watching robbaz play it and it seems fun. Played a little tonight (campaign) and its a bit confusing

Lol the enemies are not overpowered. It's not an fps, you don't just brute force your way through it. With minimal thought and creativity, the game was actually relatively easy even through the final boss. Still tons of fun though planning and executing strategies. To each his own though.

I think we replayed the early boss fight in the cave with the dog and the earth elementals 15 times before we finally gave up.

Well, I didn't get Gettysburg before the community sale ended. Looked like a great wargame but I'm not that into those.

Similarly didn't get Assault Squad 2 after watching a video play of it, assaulting a base just didn't look like I'd find it a lot of fun.

Also didn't get that game building software 66% off for $34 I have no use for despite a good price.

Damn, Gettysburg won? I didn't get a chance to log in after the vote came out, and I was really considering that one. Only thing I picked up over the sale was The Stanley Parable for 4.49, which I'm not even sure was worth it. Sale was just not impressive, at all.

Someone posted some recommended games I hadn't heard of, and they actually looked pretty good.

I bought 'Astebreed', and am planning to get 'Mousecraft'. 'Freedom Planet' was a maybe.

I don't remember the location of his post for any more names.

Steam is really slow atm. Cannot even get to my inventory. Was going to trade the Holiday cards before they expire.

Being new to Steam, I don't have a clue about these Holiday cards. I bought some costly items(modules for Digital Combat Simulator), so I've got seven Holiday cards. What should I do with them and when is the deadline to do it?

There are 10 distinct holiday cards. If you get all 10, you can craft a badge. A badge is nothing more than a decorative thing for your profile. But you also get XP to increase your steam level. Higher steam levels give you little perks like more friend slots, different profile looks, etc. And also an increased chance for booster packs (cards from games that have steam cards).

IF you have no desire to get at a badge, I would simply convert the cards into gems. Gems can be used to craft booster packs.

Conversely, you could also sell these holiday cards in the steam market for about 6-8 cents each.

I traded a few of the cards and now I have a Holiday Badge and 100 XP. I have two Holiday cards left, no way am I going to get another badge so what's better; the gems or $ .12 of cold, hard Steam cash?

You use the money in your Steam wallet towards games and stuff, right? I suck at games so I may die of old age before I get enough money to buy anything.

Thanks for that information.

Unlike backgrounds and emoticons, Steam trading cards have a low "gem value". It is better to sell them.

The cheapest (in gem value) booster pack is ~400 gems. Such a booster pack sells for 15-20 cents.

One booster pack = 3 cards for that game.

For one holiday card you get 20 gems. So you would need around 20 cards for one booster pack (at minimum; some booster packs costs 1.000 or even 1.200 gems). You could sell those cards for 9 cents each (7 cents after Steam commission). So the same 20 holiday cards would get you ~1,4 USD.

The holiday cards will expire when the Steam sale is over.

I bought Skyrims and that's it. Came very close to grabbing a few other things, but nothing really blew me away.

I just moved my gaming back to the PC from a console so the Steam sale saved me a lot of money. Mostly, I bought modules for Digital Combat Simulator, which are pretty expensive and were 65% off. I got Skyrim for $5, that's about it.

I'm finding that I'm not that big a fan of Steam. I'm glad that I can play stuff like Digital Combat Simulator as a standalone game. Turns out the sales through the DCS website are better than Steam, but you can't use them with a Steam installed game.

I went nutz with this Holiday Sale. I thought i'd buy nothing or maybe one or two.

Anyways off to go ship 10 bux for Shovel Knight. I was going to ask the forum if I should or not, but i'm hopeless against some kind of unseen force once I see these games on steam sales.

Shovel Knight is awesome if you like old school games.

I bought more this sale than any sales in the last year, but mostly from GMG, did grab Shovel Knight, Transistor and Divinity:OS as well.

Didn't buy a lot this sale. Mostly low-key indie games. My haul:

SpeedRunners (ridiculously fun)
Prison Architect (good so far)
Project Zomboid (haven't really given it a chance yet)
FOTONICA (simple but fun)
Overcast- Walden and the Werewolf (probably crappy but it was cheap)
Deadnaut (not played yet but it looks awesome)
One Finger Death Punch (simple but ridiculously fun)

I was also gifted NBA2k15, Castle Crashers and Rambo.
