2014 Notebook Intel Broadwell Estimated Release Date?

I'm planning on buying the 2014 refresh of the retina MacBook Pro and have heard that some delays for the Broadwell chip has occurred.

I was wondering whether there is any estimate as to when the CPU will be released.

Thanks.

It seems like it'll be at least Q4 2014, but I would not assume you'll be able to have a Broadwell rMBP in your hands until some time in 2015.

What a shame. Thing is, they usually do a hardware refresh every single year for their portable laptops.

Update: I'm afraid I haven't been following CPU/hardware for quite a while now. Is Haswell being extended so that it covers two years 2013 and 2014? According to AnandTech's new article, that is, in which case, when will that be likely to release?

Also, is Broadwell worth waiting for?

On the desktop, almost certainly not, and it will only be a very limited availability.

For mobile, it offers the potential of better battery life and a better igpu. But if it is like Haswell, adoption will be slow, and the best igpus have limited availability as well. So if I really wanted a laptop, dont think I would wait.

The current focus of Broadwell seems to be for premium Tablets and Convertibles. The Y chip has a TDP of 4.5W!

The rumors are also that the reason for that super low TDP is because they are able to improve performance/watt on the iGPU side, beyond process changes.

Perhaps that means we can get that 4.5W chip performing like 11.5W Y Haswell chips.
