2014-2015 NHL Discussion Thread

Leafs shut out the Flyers 4-0 last night in the pre-season opener. They always start off strong but lose momentum by November.

Two guys scored for the Wings that I don't even know who they are.

And I actually follow the AHL teams, usually.

Buffalo has 3 first rounders in the McDavid/Eichel draft. The Blues' pick likely won't be in the lottery, but Buffalo's own definitely will and the Islanders' has a good chance to be. It would be so nice to get some elite offensive talent.

Hope the kings can stick to their Defense core as they have the last few seasons and still make some strides on offense like they showed in the playoffs, maybe become a high tempo team on the transition

I'm making the bold prediction that the Leafs will not be in the playoffs, again.

If they ever win the Cup i will have to leave the country for at least 3 months, minimum..Leaf fan's are obnoxious when they are lossing, can't imagine how bad it would be if they won something...

/Go Wings

No arguments there. They'll never win the cup though. NHL has figured out the perfect scam. Build a mediocre team and people will still spend hundreds of dollars on the cheap seats because of the brand. Air Canada Centre is always packed. The only way the franchise will change is if either ticket sales or TV viewers drop. Which hasn't happened yet despite several terrible seasons.

This is also why there will never be another expansion team in Ontario. Lot of people want it, and Jim Balsillie tried it but was shut down. Simply because a second GTA or Hamilton team would split the Leafs fanbase and cut into the NHL's revenues. Nobody's going to pay $100+ a seat to watch a game in Hamilton or Waterloo.

Hawks go 98-0 and bring home the cup, scoring approximately 500 goals while achieving 50 shutouts.

Also, Kane scores 250 of those goals, breaking Gretzky's record for goals and points just to troll Canada.

The Blackhawks do have one thing going for them...

That looks intentional. Shoving her ass into the camera served no purpose.

EDIT: ok I think it was to let that guy skate by. Didn't see him the first 326 times I watched it, weird.

Go Flyers, looking forward to finally getting to see them play in Philly. Me and a few friends are flying to philly to catch them play the red wings game this month.

Minimally, I hope the Wings keep their postseason streak alive. I'd also enjoy watching them win Lord Stanley's Cup again.

I might be able to get back for a game in the D but will likely have to settle for seeing them somewhere down south. Might have to go to a Predators game this year.

Preds are 2-0. I don't know where this is going to go over the course of the season but the brand of hockey is definitely more exciting than what we had with Trotz over the years. I'm definitely a fan of Trotz but also glad we finally get to see what a more offensive minded scheme looks like night in/out.
