I'm sure I don't have to tell you this KaOTik, but sell them ASAP.

If my theory* is correct, they'll be dirt cheap by the end of the sale.


*theory: everyone (over level 5) gets a free card just by voting three times....everyone can easily vote once every 8 hours. Thus at about 1PM EST tomorrow a whole boatload of Steam users are going to get a summer card (3 vote opportunities during that period). 24 hours later same thing. 24 hours later same thing.

Greater supply = lower price
 
Dumb question, but I thought all games went on some type of sale for the summer steam sale? There's a game on my wish list that isn't on sale at all. Not even 25%.

Oh I know, the card prices for the summer ones will bottom out. I can't even get my stuff to show up on the marketplace. Some stuff I tried listing an hour ago still hasn't shown up and I still can't get anything even now to show up even though it says it is listed and I can remove them from the marketplace

Some publishers/devs don't participate in the sale at all. Some will only put there game(s) up during a daily/flash deal but no other deal.
 
Let the pillaging of my wallet begin! Grabbed Bioshock Infinite and Endless Space. Never heard of Endless Space but it looks intriguing.

this might be the first year I don't go nuts, but I'm sure ill still spend at least $50-100 bucks - which is basically nothing compared to previous years. So far I got antichamber - which I have been waiting for for a while.

I still dont get the cards thing at all - is there an FAQ somewhere on here? I see that bioshock infinite now has cards - but what the hell do i do with them? and how do i get them? I already beat the game, and dont really plan on replaying for a while - do i have to play it to earn cards in it? Ive heard you can make backgrounds and stuff - i guess that seems pretty cool. Should i just open bioshock in the background and let it run to pick up trading cards?
 
You can get the same games with a steam activating key at greenmangaming, but with a 20% coupon!

Pretty easy to fool the geo-locking and score games at UK prices!

If you own a game that has cards for it, you launch the game and while the game is launched you will randomly get card drops. You no NOT have to be playing the game. I launch most games and alt tab them and let them run in the background doing my normal stuff and you will still get the card drops. Each game has x amount of cards that will drop for you but will require xx amount to be able to craft a badge for that game. Example. Bioshock Infinite has 7 total different cards, you can only get 4 as drops. So if you do not receive any doubles/+ you will still need to get the 3 other cards you don't have to be able to craft the badge. You can get these cards either by trading with people or buying them off the Steam Market, alternativly you can sell the cards (or just your doubles/+) on the market as well to get Steam Wallet money when someone buys them from you. There are foil versions of cards which are the same as normal cards but a lot rarer and you will just want to sell those on the market because they will fetch a lot more money than a normal card and you can only craft foil cards with other foil cards.

So you have all the cards needed to craft a badge. You hit craft, it does some mumbojumbo magic fuey and boom, you get 100xp towards your Steam profile, a badge of the game you crafted it for, a background and emoticon of the game you just crafted it for as well. During this Summer Sale event you also receive a Summer Getaway card that when you can only get during this sale, it has its own badge and requires 10 different cards (you can get these Summer Getaway cards by 2 other methods as well, first being for every $10 you spend in the Steam store during the sale you get one, and for every 3rd community vote you vote on you will get one). Normally instead of the Summer Getaway card you would receive a coupon for a random game at a random % off.

Hopefully that clears things up a little bit.
 
So according to Kaotik's explanation of it, people are paying money and idling in games...so they can get an emoticon and a background? I don't know what xp towards your profile means, but unless it means anything significant, that sounds...stupid.

Anyway back to the sales discussion...cmon Dishonored, win the vote!

It's safe to say that Dishonored will probably win.
