2012 Toyota Rav4 EV

a local Carmax has one with only 3k miles on it for $22k. it is almost a new car based on mileage. This was sold at around $50k before government incentives back in 2012. This was the vehicle that toyota built with help from tesla. basically the motor but without supercharging or the big battery.

KBB estimates it should be $17k, but i'm not sure how that number is determined.

is this vehicle worth considering?

Ehhhhh.

No AWD here which kinda defeats the purpose of it. Also note that since it is discontinued, should you ever decide to replace that battery, it will be difficult.

The RAV4 hybrid has caught my eye since it has AWD.

I wonder why Tesla hasn't been able to partner more with established companies? Toyota actually sold all its shares a few years ago of Tesla.

You can get a brand new bolt for $30K after tax incentives. The Bolt has an extra 100-miles of range, a full warranty, and is not 5yrs old.

Seems like an easy justification to spend $8K more.

If you want a cheap used EV, the Focus & Leaf are both around $10K,

i figured as much. the reasons i briefly contemplated this was because i like the size of the rav4, plus this seems like a cheap way to get in on a car with a tesla motor. i test drove this vehicle and it really accelerates well.

anyhow, thanks for the advice. i'll consider the bolt.

Offer them 14k.
