2012 M5 Concept revealed...

Which means it will look exactly like this...minus the wheel color most likely.

I think this is the best looking M product since the E46 M3...but I might be a little biased. I have not been huge on the F10 5 Series...just looks too sedate to me, but they gussied this up enough to where I'm really digging it. Too bad this thing is going to be a land barge, because that 550+HP turbo engine they are going to put in this thing will be a beast.

I suspect that the wheel color will stay as an option at least. Guess the glory days of my V are coming to an end.

Well we can always look forward to the next V 🙂. And that V-Wagon with a 6spd is just ridiculously awesome...too bad no one is going to buy one, so my chance to buy one used is about nil.

Not sure I like the whole muffin top look around the door handle area. Sure they made the car look a little less fat than the last gen. Now it looks like it's gotten lypo around the bottom and has that little fat roll.....and extra skin wrinkles on the hood :/

Oh well, to each his own I guess, heh

Nah, the 5 series is a great looker in the flesh.

they are just trying to fin in with the Miami/LA crowd 😉

I don't know why people are moaning about this. As far as I can tell the only changes are to the front and rear bumper/valance and side gills. Apart from that it's 100% F10.

I'm not moaning...I think the small tweaks are a huge improvement over the F10 which I see tons of down here in South Florida and I generally yawn at. The M5 looks to be nicely butch.

I haven't kept up with bmw the past few years, but I'll say that the best reason to buy an m5 has nothing to do with how it looks. I remember when i decided to drive my demo 24/7 and sell the m5, the first car I looked to drive was a challenger srt8. I know it's not really fair to compare them, but the m5 was an 01 and the challenger was an 09 so I figured it would be somewhat of an even battle. Unfortunately, I was incorrect. Don't get me wrong, the challenger is a great car for $45k but the m5 is an unbelievable dream to drive.

Do they still have that stupid M button needed to get the extra horsepower? That and idrive probably would have kept me away from the last gen, even if I had wanted to upgrade (and of course the $25k + price bump).

There's always Alpina for the 7 series, if they still do that. I don't often see them, but they look really wicked.

They certainly do. I just saw one on A1A with those magnificent wheels a couple of weekends ago. I think proceeded to explain to my wife how badass it was which she completely ignored.

Hahah, awesome. Yeah I see them rolling around every now and again, but it's hard for me to tell at a glance how old the 7-series it's based on is. Looks like they still crank out some monsters :

I saw one of the new 5-series a few days ago, they look pretty good in person, they do look big though! I almost thought it was a 7 series until I saw the badge.

Its ok, a big improvement over the old M5, but its still not particularly good looking (not ugly, just not really anything too special). I like the crease detailing BMW has gotten into, and aside from the Z4, this is probably the best they've done so far, namely the hood. I'll be glad when they move on to different lower fascias. I really wish BMW would hire someone that can make headlights (ok, enclosures) that don't look goofy, they've gotten better though.

I wasn't aiming that comment at you, just at the masses. 🙂

I live just around the corner from BMW's UK HQ, so I see hundreds of new machinery every day. The staff all drive new cars for no more than 3 months. These are great to pick up from the CPO network and can be identified by two things; 1) a licence plate starting with a Y, so YC, YD, etc. 2) Insanely high specification and option list. Makes them a bargain. My 120d is one of these cars. 🙂

WANT!!!
