And guess what?

They made it uglier! No surprise coming from BMW these days!

Go buy a current-gen 1 while you still can!!!

Sad part is, they'll sell (read: lease) thousands of these because people are sheep.

That design better not transfer over to the new 3-Series or god forbid, the new M3.

Ok. Not sure why this is so exciting. You posted pictures of the hatchback, and right at the top of the article:

•Sales of the hatchback in the U.S. are not expected. A second generation 1 Series coupe is likely in 2013.

BMW has lifted the veil on the second-generation 1 Series hatchback, but like its predecessor that has been on sale in Europe since 2004 there are no plans to offer it in North America.

So all you people bitching about how ugly it is, fear not, you're probably never going to see one in person, since most of you claim to live in the US.

Yup, thats pretty god damn ugly.

Doesnt matter to me. I wont be buying a 1 or 3 series. Only 5'3" but I feel cramped in the 335. Had to roll my shoulders in and tuck my legs back. Was not a comfortable ride at all. (Though I certainly appreciate a 320 HP twin turbo.) Would need at least a 5 for the space, and I cant afford that.
Ditto the Mustang, Camero, Charger, Corvette and plenty of others. Too tiny.

Dude we're vomiting not because it's a hatch, but because the overall design is puke. It's like they're trying to force that look that first came with the recent 7-series redesign, which is now the design philosophy of the 5, all the down to the 1. It looks terrible on a small car, unless the sedan/coupe will have a completely different front end and side bodywork/fenders/etc.

It's shit, pure and simple. The current 1 is kind of homely, but this is just ghastly. It's gonna do to the 1 series what the redesign did to TL sales after Acura dropped the 09 model out there. It's a giant middle finger to anyone who has appreciation for a nice looking car, and it's going to send droves of customers fleeing to Audi.

Looks like a retarded beaver. Can we have Chris back? This is horrible.

YES. I was trying to figure out what animal it looked like. At first I thought squirrel, but definitely beaver.

The weird triangular empty space between the lights and the grill is what makes it ugly.

look the same? They don't look similar at all. I didn't like the E60 5 series, but the new F10 looks fine to me. It has a cleaner and less polarizing design than the last generation. I don't like this 1 series hatch, but I don't see it as any uglier than the last hatch and again, it isn't coming to America, so I don't care. The 1 Series coupe that made it here isn't that bad, so I'll reserve judgement on the net gen one until I see it.

fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

From behind it just looks like a GTI for some reason.

This thing isn't out yet but Car & Driver already rated it best car of the decade.
