Ok. Not sure why this is so exciting. You posted pictures of the hatchback, and right at the top of the article:
Sales of the hatchback in the U.S. are not expected. A second generation 1 Series coupe is likely in 2013.
BMW has lifted the veil on the second-generation 1 Series hatchback, but like its predecessor that has been on sale in Europe since 2004 there are no plans to offer it in North America.
So all you people bitching about how ugly it is, fear not, you're probably never going to see one in person, since most of you claim to live in the US.

Dude we're vomiting not because it's a hatch, but because the overall design is puke. It's like they're trying to force that look that first came with the recent 7-series redesign, which is now the design philosophy of the 5, all the down to the 1. It looks terrible on a small car, unless the sedan/coupe will have a completely different front end and side bodywork/fenders/etc.
Does anyone else think that looks like the front of a storm trooper helmet or is it just me
