UPDATE:
5000 mile Continental DWS update: Loveing the tires so far. Had them right about 3 months now with a little over 5000 miles on them. Still as quiet as the day they were put on. I ran the first couple thousand miles at 34-35 psi and the last 3000 around 38-40. Closer to 38 mostly. I've had only two hard rain days to test them in the wet.

35psi: Felt very nice on the ride side and absorbed the bumps and road imperfections magnificantly. Just a touch softer than I like and gives the car a slight roll feel in hard turns because of the sidewall on the tire. Ride quietness has improved immensely as well as grip. No rain test because it was dry the whole time.

38-39pis: It's amazing how much 3-4 psi difference can make. The car feels like a whole new animal now. Still a fairly smooth ride, but much more firm and sporty feeling. I really like the way the car feels as a whole and the feedback in the steering wheel is increased nicely. In hard turns the car just sticks. Much firmer without that slight roll feel and the car feels much more flickable and nimble. Sound has just slightly increased with air pressure, but went back to normal on a lower psi test run. Car is still quieter than previous tires. Had two heavy rain tests. Car hooked up almost as if it weren't even wet. I could barely feel any slipping at all even though it was the first real rain in a couple months. Much better wet handeling than my old tires. Can't wait to give the snow a go.

Overall impressions are very positive. Thanks for all the great suggestions. I will definitely be recommending these tires. After 5k miles they still look new and I can't see any visible wear. Tires will be rotated in the next 500-1000 miles. Whenever I get time to take it in. They are not sport tires by any means but IMO have an almost perfect balance between performance, quietness, mileage warranty, and wet/dry performance. They are simply a great all around tire.

Looking at getting some new tires for my mz3. Stock tires are loud and within about 5k of being completely worn.

Tire size is 205/50-17.

I'm looking for an all season tire. Oklahoma winters aren't too bad. Just a few bad days each year. So something with decent snow/ice grip. Stock tires did well, granted they only had 1200 miles at the time. And I want something that has good dry grip.

I drive quickly. It's not a race car or super high performance but it's nice and peppy. I do a lot of highway riding. Currently 300-400 miles a week minimum highway. And zipping around town. So I want decent treadwear. Say 35-40k miles. Preferable with a mileage warranty.

Also looking for around 110-130/tire if possible. Cheaper the better, but I won't sacrifice too much on a nicer tire. And I want something quiet as the top priority.

Looked at continental dws all season. 40k warranty and 135/tire. Seems to be quiet at first then gets loud after about 15k miles. Also sidewall is very soft.

Michelin ps/2 all season. A little louder then the continentals and 165/tire. So more than I want to spend.

Was looking at a set of general tires on tire rack for 111 each that seemed pretty decent.

Any suggestions on other tires/brands?

dunlop SP sport signatures are good for the first 20-30K, but they go to crap after that.

Right now, I actually have Toyo Versado LX in the front b/c the dunlops kept splitting at the sidewall. They seem to be all right.

You dislike them?

Do tell...

they seem fine. they don't seem quite as grippy on the highway as the stock eagle rs-a tire. a bit better in the rain (not that we've gotten any). i'm just responding to gibson's remarks about the longevity of it. i'd hoped to get more than 30k miles out of them. the eagles were practically bare after that much use.

They are not horrible (well, in snow they are after lots of use), but the most astounding thing is how much road noise you get after 30k. It's not even gradual. It's like once it get's to some point, boom, lots of road noise. Also, I really do not understand why the sidewalls keep splitting after 30K. I keep my pressures correct and everything. You do not even bother with the warranty at that point because one goes, you have to replace 2, they only cover 1 and only a certain % if the price.

That said, anything is better than those RS-A tires. The minute the ground gets wet, the tires go from decent to horrible.

The Continental Extreme Contact DW or DWS were highly recomended last year for those looking for a good all season tire. very good preformance with high tread wear rating

Ive had mine for almost a year, no issues put ~25k miles on them so far

I had Toyo Versado LX's on my 3 and they were pretty good. Didn't last as long as I'd hoped (20-25k), but they had great traction.

I now have some Kumho's that I haven't been impressed with (can't remember the model, but not the ASX's).

Ok so stay away from kumho and toyo versado. Got it.

So far continental dws are the top choice. How is the noise with them so far? Still pretty quiet?

I had about 15-20k on mine and they still had 7-8/32 left and were very quiet.

Best all round tire esp if you have some snow IMO.

Came in to post the DWS as a recommendation and I don't even have them on either of my cars but they will be the next tire on my DD.

you would not have liked the firehawks that were the only tire to fit my se-r. the rs-a's were miles beyond those for wet traction.

I got Yokohama YK520 from discount tire om my Mazda3. They advertise 60K miles, but if they last 40K, I'll still be happy. My Kumho Ecstas lasted 25K.

As of now I'm leaning towards the DWS. I'm open to other suggestions, but they seem to be the major favorite. I'll probably decide here in the next few weeks for sure.

Thanks for the input so far.

LOL....I do not believe you. There is no way something can be worse than Eagle RS-A tires in snow...:D

never tried the rs-a in the snow. drove through a bare mid-november ohio dusting with the firehawks.

lots of experience in rain with both. those firehawks were shit in the rain.

Once I finally pull the trigger I'll post up a review for you. Just debating between wearing down my tires more or just getting rid of them. They're so damn loud. And I've got a slow leak in one. Only have maybe 5k miles left.

DWS are still in heavy demand so make sure the sites that sell them have them in stock. If not order sooner than you need so they will get here in time.
Had to wait a month to get my SiL's new set and went with a diff size to get some for my BiL.

I'll probably just get them from the local discount tire. It's only $5 more a tire plus they have a $100 mail in rebate going right now with any 4 tire purchase. On top of that it makes them happier, keeps business here and I get free rotation and patched and stuff.

Actually scratch that. They match prices. For anywhere. And they're in stock.

Might be going down there today.
