Looks like something out of a 1980s Mad Max movie.

Edit-Must be those new shopping cart resistant body panels. :D

It fits with the XF pretty nicely. Jag finally got out of the "can't make a car that isn't traditional" mindset a year or two ago.

Kinda hard to see in the pictures, but you can almost make out the green jaguar thing on the center caps of the wheels.

Those pictures are a bad depiction of the car. There are probably purposely misshapen plastic body panels on the thing to keep the real shape from being seen. Also, the black matte covering throws your eyes off too. I read an article a while back in Motortrend where they interviewed the owner of a company that disguises prototype cars. Pretty interesting.

I would guess its an XJ mule in an XF body with lots of camo just to make things a little more confusing.

At what point does all that camo affect the performance/aerodynamics of the vehicle they spent thousands designing? Mess with acceleration? Handling? Braking? What actually are they testing with such heavy cover? Transmission shifts?

Exactly what I was going to say, I'm surprised you were the first one to post that

I was going to ask that too. What exactly are they accomplishing driving that shit in public? Attention whoring?

How do you know it's heavy? It's probably plastic. I am sure the Jaguar engineers know what they are doing better than some armchair car experts on this board. I am sure it doesn't impact much of anything aside from aerodynamics, which can be done in a wind tunnel anyways.

People underestimate Jaguar. The XF was a great success, and the current XJ is a great car, its just been around for so long without a major refresh the people forget about it.

I fail to see what the point is of going though that much effort to hide the car. Who are they hiding the design from? It's not like if Ford drove around the new Mustang before it was released without camo that Dodge would steal the look and release a car that looks just like it before Ford officially puts the Mustang on sale. Why would you not want the public to see what you are working on before it goes on sale? If the design sucks, at least you'll get the feedback before you've spent all the money finalizing the look and then it's too late to change.
