2011 has had far too many games

Between Crysis 2, Deus Ex: HR, Portal 2, The Witcher 2, Infamous 2, BF3, Skyrim, Saints Row 3, and Batman: AC... how the hell am I supposed to get through them all? And those are just the games I've liked. Counting the ones I felt pretty "meh" about (but still played) would be LA Noire, Mortal Kombat, MW3, and countless indie games that may or may not be 2011 releases.

Seriously... is it just me or has it truly been a year packed to the brim with games worth playing? Maybe it's just that it was my first year back to PC gaming in over 5 years (and I now have the money to play them), but it seems to be a lot more in 2011 than recent memory. Thank GOD Diablo 3 got pushed back or I'd be screwed.

do not play through more than once. Play single player games more than multiplayer (and it's never ending maps).

Going on about Crysis, Portal2 and Rage for example, not long to finish them personally. Just a weekend for Rage, portal was about the same number of hours and crysis, well, I do not think it was much longer. Not bothered with multiplayer on those (except once through for portal's extra maps).

Well a couple console games are there. Infamous 2, LA Noire and Mortal Kombat were all console when I played them. I know Gears 3 and Killzone 3 were also this year too.

Waiting to get around to Uncharted 3 (the only reason I still have a PS3)...

Skyrim, BF3 and Witcher 2 are keeping me busy as hell, as if I didn't have enough things to do already.

The worst part is most of these really good games had to come out in the last two months of the year, instead of being nicely spread out.

Did not concern me (number of games this year), since I only bought Skyrim, Darksiders (while Darksiders was on sale at GamersGate, then registered on Steam), RAGE and some DLCs from games I owned since months already. I haven't jumped on the Battlefield 3 wagon yet, I might buy it sometime next year, no hurry for that one. Nah this year for me wasn't particularly hectic with too many games to play, fortunately.

It's a good thing. Prevents you from needing to buy games at launch/full price. Just play through your backlog, and then pick up newer games when they drop in price. 🙂

Not to be a downer, but did anyone notice that those games are all sequels? Guess it doesnt matter if they are good games, but some new franchises would be nice. And except for Witcher 2, most are multiplatform or outright console ports.

Out of those, I only played Portal 2 and have many hours sunk into skyrim and see no end in sight unless I just go and play the main quest only. Seriously, that game is almost endless in the quests that it generates.

I am anxiously awaiting Mass Effect 3, just hope Bioware has one more good single player game left in them since they sold out to EA.

Yes the games are all sequels, but that's how it is anymore. There were a few new games like Bulletstorm but none really stood out. The thing is that a lot of these sequels are to series that are at least relatively new... at least released this gen. Batman, Portal, Witcher, Crysis are all fairly new series. Crysis less so I guess but still. Every year has a few new games but not all can be winners.

PC gaming is dead, those games are all consolized trash! Consoles have doomed us to an eternity of mediocrity!

Wait a second...

The beginning of next year is going to be the same. With Diablo III and Mass Effect 3 coming out. I don't have nearly enough time to play all these.

On a related note, the turkey my buddies fried last night was way too big for all of us. We have way too much extra food in our fridge now. It sucks :colbert:

Sorry its from a song I like its essentially the same thing though. 😛

I realized that I think the only 2011 game I've bought was Portal 2 on some sale. Was DoW2: retribution 2011? Guess the humble bundle I got was some 2011 games too, damn ruined my stats🙂 Maybe I need a poll to see if there are any other "last season" gamers here..

And not a single good Space RPG 🙁

I just watch all the episodes of Firefly again, oh how much I would love a game based on this show...

You start off with some old hulk, no guns, limited cargo space and you look to hire crew members who have various skills which you can develop/level up as you play. You travel from port to port seeking jobs which can vary from simple trades/smuggling ops to scrap jobs and pirating.
