A slightly capable soft roader would be nice to tackle the occasional rocky road, mud, etc. If this can do that, then great. If not its useless.

The magnum/durango looks like a marshmellow up front, ugly and bloated. The Jeep GC has a lot of potential, mainly because its actually a Merc underneath, but unfortunately its still a Chrysler product, meaning everything will be broken in a few years anyway. Maybe if that can change then it would get the nod, but in this case id probably pick the explorer.

looks cool if you want to look like a soccer mom

Sry, I forgot all men need to drive these as SUVs

GMC Sierra = Chevy Silverado
GMC Yukon = Chevy Tahoe/Suburban

Not quite true, while these vehicles are very close in appearance and utility, they each have their own unique chassis. I used to build aftermarket winch mounts for each of these vehicles and I was amazed at the amount of waste on the part of GMC in not sharing chassis across the truck line, at least as far as a winch mount is concerned, there is no interchangeability between a sierra and a silverado, Yukon and Suburban or Denali and Tahoe. The GMC Suburban is the one exception as it is the same as the Chevy Suburban in the years where it shared the same name with both badges.

Toyota has just as many competing models in their SUV lineup, while they're not all carbon copies like the GMC/Chevy models mentioned above but there is some competition between the 4 runner, FJ cruiser, Sequioa, Highlander, Landcruiser, Rav4. I understand the itty bitty, the bitty, medium, viente and grande but really, I think the 4 runner could go because the FJ cruiser is just as capable off road, the Sequoia should have replaced the landcruiser and I'm not sure the Highlander and Rav4 should exist at all, the customer who prefers a car like SUV would probably be better off with the Venza.

New explorer NEEDS a 5.0L option. I like the styling but WHY build yet another midsize SUV/Crossover style vehicle. The Edge and Flex have that covered already. The previous explorer (which I have the Mercury version of) was a very capable rig and with the V8 was rated to tow 7000+ lbs. The ONLY reason I can think of for building this unibody want to be suv is to please the Communists Cafe standards.

This will kill Flex sales...I can't think of a single woman who'd rather have a Flex over this. Still not a fan of the styling...but the interior is really, really nice.
