Looks good but a nit awkward from some angles

An AWD set-up has been ruled out.

awd would make it a direct competitor to the sti/evo, and it would probably still be a good 8k less

nvm. Yeah... it's interesting to think about...If this thing drops at like 26k msrp WITHOUT awd, mazda seriously blew it.

when i bought my ms3 in sept 08, sticker was 24,650, i got it for 23,650.
i know in 09 they raised the price to 25,250 ish so i expect the new one to be right @ 26k.
at that price point i would consider a wrx, but i have a thing for hatchbacks, so handy.

well everyone was going apeshit over the 8k off msrp for 08 sti's, so i see those EVERYWHERE here in socal, they were going for 27.9 + TTL
but yea i have seen maybe 2-3 evo's since the new model change. i was all set to buy an 08 sti, cleaned my car, emptied the glove box
but when i test drove it, i wasn't impressed, it didn't feel any faster than my ms3, except from a launch obviously. i didn't want to add another 15k to my loan even tho it was 0%, i'll have my car paid off sometime this year.
i thought the sti/evo's were roughly 39k ? the ms3 is 25 for the gt, i figure if they added AWD, it would bump it up another 2500 or so.

phew, thank good nothing changed engine wise, i was all set to trade my 08 ms3 in for the new one if
the rumors of 300hp and awd came true. stupid to do money wise but i'm glad they helped me save my $ =) haha
now if i can get the s2000 bug out of my mind i'll be in great shape financially. i've always wanted an s2k and 09 is
the final production year.... i've been getting quotes of 5k off msrp off 08's but kinda want an 09 if i do it.

which is why they make this.😉
When the new style wrx/sti came out, i hated them. The styling is growing on me, and considering the 265hp/awd/25k/hatchbackness punch the WRX now packs.... well, it's hard to beat.

ive read a lot about tranny problems with the new wrx's so far.

Do you need a new new S2000 to kill that bug? I've wanted one for a long time. I would suggest a 2003. Last of the 2.0 9000RPM cars and has a glass rear window. Pretty darn cheap these days.

If the chassis isn't set up for awd, why would any of you think that they would make this variant awd???
So the only difference in the '10 model is all visual and possible front end suspension change??? Not much to report there.

The platform does have an AWD option. See the Volvo S40 AWD.

Yeah sounds like fun....

You wouldn't even need mods to have traction issues. FWD down right sucks in low gears. All you damn ricers and your FWD.
