2010 Focus driver door won't open?

Elixer

Lifer
Well, it won't open from the inside, outside, it works fine.

Anyone know what the issue could be?

This is a 4dr focus, the lock / unlock works, but, when you go to pull the lever on the inside driver's door, nothing happens.

I have read some things about how crappy Ford's latches are, is this one of those cases?
Or, is there something else I can do to fix this issue?

Right now, you either have to crawl over the center console and go out that way, or power down the window, and open it that way from the outside.

I don't see how they can get this wrong, seems like a serious safety issue.

the plastic holder on the interior door for the handles cable broke.

or the plastic piece that holds the cable for the interior door handle on the door latch broke.

or in other words plastic ruins another day.

You think so?
I found this post in another forum:
This isn't an uncommon problem with focus's, mine started doing this about 6 months after rolling it off the lot . Try repeatedly pulling on the handle from the outside, the latch mechanism sticks because the lubricant Ford used from the factory is garbage. It'll be a PITA but it should open if thats all it is. If that doesnt work, try lifting up on the handle a little bit and firmly pulling outward like you're opening it normally, don't lean into it obviously but a firm tug is usually enough. If you cant get it open like this the only thing i can think of is taking the interior door panel off if you can with the seat being there and reach in and pull on the linking rod to trip the latch (Right now the rod is just straightening out when you pull the handle because the latch is jammed). Once you get it open slap some of this on the latch, we used it in my old shop.

So I won't know what is going on until I can remove the door panel, and look... bah.
Anyone have any tips on removing the panel?
