2010 College Rankings

According to The Princeton Review's annual survey of college students, the best professors are at Davidson College. Students party the heartiest at Pennsylvania State University and they're most satisfied with their financial aid at Swarthmore College. Colgate University takes top honors as the most beautiful campus, while Virginia Tech serves the best campus food and Smith College has the best dorms.
The Princeton Review, an education services company perhaps best known for its test-prep courses, asked 122,000 students at 371 colleges to rate their schools on dozens of topics and report on their campus experiences. The company uses the students' responses to help generate reports on the top 20 colleges in over 50 different categories. Other ranking categories report on topics such as campus political leanings, social scenes and sports interests.

All of the rankings are included in the 2010 edition of The Princeton Review's annual college guide "The Best 371 Colleges." The book also has unique ratings -- scores from 60 to 99 -- on each college's profile in eight categories, including Financial Aid, Fire Safety and Green (a rating based on the schools' environmental commitments). The book's ranking lists and school profiles with ratings will post on www.PrincetonReview.com today.

"Each of our 371 'best' colleges offers great academics," says The Princeton Review vice president and publisher Robert Franek. "However, we don't rank schools academically because our goal is to help students find and get into the best school for them. Instead, we tally 62 ranking lists based on how students at these schools rated their campus experiences, plus ratings based on institutional data we collect on issues important to applicants. It's all about the fit."

These and other ranking lists in the book and #1 colleges on them are:

Suck it MIT.......Cal Tech beats you yet again.

Happiest Students

I sat next to a girl from Brown when I flew out to AZ...apparently you can make up your own major. She knew a guy who majored in "Friendship"...

I think you can also major in Klingon there.

WTF? Chico State isn't on the top party school list? something is wrong!

Neither is Ohio State Columbus campus.

Meh... the University of Colorado used to be up there and even won a couple years some time back. Then a few students died of alcohol poisoning and CU hasn't been seen on the list since. Have those schools had anything like that happen?

Yeah...BYU represent!

Most Socially Conservative
#1: Brigham Young University

President Wilkinson expanded the Honor Code in 1957 to include other school standards. This led to what the Honor Code represents today: rules regarding chastity, dress, grooming, drugs and alcohol. A signed commitment to live the honor code is part of the application process, and must be adhered by all students, faculty, and staff. Students and faculty found in violation of standards are either warned or called to meet with representatives of the Honor Council. In rare cases, students and faculty can be expelled from the school or lose tenure. Both LDS and non-LDS students are required to meet annually with a Church leader to receive an ecclesiastical endorsement for both acceptance and continuance.

BYU sounds like a bundle of fun

I shoulda gone to Penn State damnit...Its only like a 6 hr drive. I think thats worth it for some of the best college parties in the country.

lol UF (faculty) didn't like it when we got #1 party school last year...good thing we only got #2 this year!

Hard to say it isn't a big party school when you can walk outside and trip over three of them in a matter of minutes. Typical weekend during football season goes like this

1a) Wake up. Go to stadium if you have a ticket.
1b) Wake up. Either the Gators have already won or are in the process of winning.
2) Go outside and enjoy all the tailgating.
3) Tailgaters leave. Hang with friends.
4) Pick between one of the five parties available.
5) Party
6) Go back home, find another party on the way
7) Why not? Partake in keg, meet new people

8) Wake up Sunday.
9) Campus looks like a barren desert.
10) Study

Back when I was going to school, we were listed by the Princeton Review as the top school for clove-smoking, Birkenstock-wearing vegetarians. Where's the filthy hippie category now?

I agree 100% with Colgate winning most beautiful campus. I can't study in the library during the day because I just stare out the window and look at the countryside. I'm pretty sure heaven looks like the campus there.

That's pretty much Penn State, but during non-football season, just take out step 1. People still find reasons to tailgate the rest of the year when it's nice outside.

Awww butt-hurt kiddy got rejected from his #1 choice. It's okay :cookie:

Seriously though, I knew some people at MIT who would study a ton and then some who literally did nothing but party/goof off. As the saying goes, sleep, partying, studying -- pick two. I got very little sleep.

I find it hard to believe that Brigham Young is worse than Liberty University.

...well, maybe not that hard to believe.
