As far as I know (and that is not saying much), AMD has never offered unlocked multipliers before on their mobile chips.

Opinions on how this will pan out in the notebook form factor? How would having an unlocked multiplier affect thermal stress on the chipset and other parts compared to rasing FSB (with fixed multiplier)?

Lastly, how will AMD position this chip against Arrandale?

I found this Anandtech article written 6/23/2010 mentioning an upcoming 25watt "non-Black edition" Phenom II mobile quad core review.

Depending on how much AMD has cut idle power use, we could see a fairly significant boost to battery life with the Turion II P520 (2.3GHz). AMD also has the tri-core P820 (1.8GHz) and quad-core P920 (1.6GHz) rated at 25W. We've got another Toshiba with the P920 arriving this week, so we'll be looking at the latest AMD platform shortly and hope to see at least a 15% boost in battery life.

Hmmm....Hopefully they add more power management features. Intel Arrandale seems to have some really good energy saving and efficiency technologies that maximize the work done from a single battery charge.
