On Christmas eve morning, my 2010 tl had some issues starting up (never had an issue before). After turning the key, I would hear a intermittent chugging noise from the car attempting to start, but ultimately failing. I assumed it was the battery, but I saw no dash warnings. Tried a couple more times and failed, before I called acura roadside assistance.

They quickly dispatched a service-person for an emergency jump start. Before he arrived, I gave it one more go, for an extended period of time, and the car finally started up. However, it began chugging and shuddering for about 20 seconds with the RPM meter spiking between 1k and 2k rpms. Everything finally settled down, and I let it idle for a while. I then called roadside assistance to cancel the jump start. My car has had no issues starting up since.

What should I do at this point? Take it into the dealership and explain my situation? I'm worried there might be a more severe underlying problem. Any suggestions would be great. Note: I just had my oil changed and vehicle inspected a month ago at about 17k total miles.

Update: I just filled up on shell 93 on suggestion from a friend

I would guess you got some bad fuel. Did you change your regular fill up place? Has there been lots of heavy rains prior to your last fill up? I would note what happened and then continue to drive it. To bring it to the dealership now would only have them scratching their heads as without a problem, it can be difficult to diagnose what happened. I drive a 2012 Crosstour which is the sister to the TL. A very nice car.

I pretty much fill up at whatever gas station is most convenient. It has been raining a bit, but I was right in the middle of a full tank . I'll be filling up today at the usual place near work, hopefully the problem wont pop up again. Thanks.

On a side note, I've actually been trying to get my TL wiper assemblies replaced with the crosstours'.

Honda V6s do occasionally sputter and resist catching a bit on startup, typically when already warm. It's a very rare thing (like once every few months) and they usually start right up the next attempt. Heard this from multiple owners and experienced it myself. Never seems to get any worse, just a little bug in the software, I assume. But since you couldn't start it after multiple attempts, my next thought is bad gas.
