I'd probably prefer the Sonata (being four years newer), but drive them both first and see what you think.

Remember, among other things, with the Hyundai you still have the 5 yr 60,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty which would seem to make this a no brainer!

Hyundai.

If you were talking about a '99 Sonata vs. a '95 Camry, I might go for the Camry. But the Sonata has been a great car since about 2006 so there's no need to pay the Toyota tax.

Sonata is 3k - 33% more. The Camry would save you 3k, and I'd think over the long term neither car will have much trouble for 10 years and 80k

If it were a 10k Sonata vs an older Camry with more miles for the same 10k - I'd go with Sonata.

Sonata... I like the reserved styling, very stately.

I might be in the minority here but I would bargain hard for a cheaper Camry. They have better resale, and will be alot easier to sell or trade.

But forget the age difference, which one drives nicer, feels better? 8K miles per year is not much, easily handled by a 6yr old car if well maintained.

Sonata. It is still within bumper-bumper warranty. Camry doesn't even have powertrain anymore.

If you were stretching finances though, go for the camry.
