So all the NBA games came out today. Anyone have one yet? Can someone provide their first impressions of whatever game they have so as to help others choose?

Let's avoid talking about the demos and talk about experiences with the official games so far.

I didn't really like the demo. The graphics were great, but the control felt loose.

LIVE... well read the reviews.

I wouldn't say it's flawless. Far from it. I've always gotten 2k games so I can't comment on Live. The graphics are much better than last years game. It seems like it's too easy to block shots, steal, and charge. There seems to be some slow down after you make a shot and it switches the camera around to the other team. This is while being played on the 2k style camera. The shot stick is improved and defense seems better. This is all while playing with a friend and on a 360. Oh and the presentation is top notch.

IGN finally has reviews out for all three NBA games. They gave an 8.5 to 2k9 and 6.5 to both nba 09 and live 09.

I was really hoping nba 09 got some good reviews. I had nba 08 and really liked the player progression. I guess I'll 2k9 a try since my friend in another city bought it and we can play around online.

Has anyone tried playing 2k9 online? How many players can be on one console while playing online?

the back of the box says 10 players online.

it takes forever to get online/try adn find a game for me and ti says my roster isn't registered or something? i dunno.

edit: Apparently there servers are suffering this first week. I also updated my firmware.

I was able to play a unranked game just fine.

Picked up 2K9 a couple of days ago. I'm really liking it, although I'm finding it extremely hard even on the Pro difficulty. I did play an unranked team game online, but got stuck with a 12 year old who decided to shoot it all the time and rarely passed it to me. Regardless, it was still fun as hell.

If anybody wants to play some team play online some time, let me know.

Does 2k9 let you player lock? ie, control one player for the entire game and let the computer control everybody else?

In the online team play, it gives you the option to lock on one player or let you switch around. Not sure about single player.

I paid $10 for college hoops 2k8 and am having a blast with it. Waiting a year to buy sports games is nice.

Well I picked up 2k9 yesterday, and overall I am impressed. The menu system is horribly hard to navigate as it has a really poor way of dividing all the options. The create-a-player option is buried so far into the menus that my friend who bought 2k9 on the release date couldn't find it and still hasn't found it after I told him to look for it.

The create-a-player function is very weird too. You can make a new player with all max skills in every category right off the bat. I don't understand how that is supposed to be fun. I figured there would be at least a little bit of player progression. Maybe there is, but it is just buried in the menu somewhere.

For someone new to the 2k series, I am impressed by the gameplay, but very very disappointed in the main menu system...

When I asked earlier about how many people you can play with online, I meant how many people can be playing from your console with other people. For example, if I have 3 friends over, can all 4 of us get into online play from my console? I will eventually test it out myself, but if someone knows off the top of their head that would help me avoid a few hours looking through all the settings in the menu!
