The headlights and front fascia look like crap, in my opinion, but the side profile and rear end are gorgeous.

The front end of that car almost looks Buick-ish to me. The rear does look very nice though...seems to be very XK-inspired.
A little disappointing to see that they are still using the same engine from the last few generations. The 4.2L V8 is a good motor but could use some updating to compete with the likes of Mercedes and BMW.

300hp for a base model...and 420hp for the supercharged is plenty nice for that category...especially with a 500hp version stated as in the pipeline.
I'm hoping it drives as good as it looks. I like that they got rid of the "J" shifter and actually put some cool if gimmicky features like that gear shifter in place. I like to see a car company attempting something new.
Well, comparing a sedan to a coupe isn't really fair. And I personally think the Jaguar XK coupe (particularly in XKR trim) is a more graceful take on the classic GT than is the AM Vantage (no comparison when it comes to the AM interior though).Originally posted by: JackBurton
I always preferred the Aston Martin to the Jaguar.

The problem for Jaguar's XF is that it's meant to be a four door coupe design and there it's competing with the Mercedes-Benz CLS, which is an unqualified design success.
The upcoming 2009 Audi A7 is a better example of an alternate take on the four door coupe. The 2008 Aston Martin Rapide shows what the XF could have looked like.
