Check the cam switchover at 4k... Hats off to Mechadyne for integrating VVT into a V10 pushrod engine.

The 2008 Dodge Viper?s are hitting the streets as we write and the first set of dyno results are in for the 600HP monster. Hennessey put their new Viper on the dyno and it made 546.25 HP and 516.57 pounds of torque at the rear wheels. Using a conservative driveline loss of 13% that puts the new Viper around 615+ HP. After a few exhaust mods and tweaks they were able to bump the power to 574.95 HP and 537.06 pounds of torque.

Hats off to GM for throughly embarrassing the Viper with the new Z06. Over ten grand cheaper, and when you put decent tires and a good driver behind the wheel, it easily matches the key performance benchmarks.

The new ZR will just cap it off.

To be fair... if you were to put the same driver in the Viper, as you were to put into that 10s Z06, the Viper would not have problem keeping up IMO... 250lbs is not that critical when you have an extra 90-100whp and a better torque curve...

True enough. I do have to credit Dodge for challenging the supremacy of the Vette as the pinnacle of American Sports Cars. I think that without that rivalry, we'd be looking at a much weaker C5/C6/C7 era.

Yes definitely. This little rivalry between the vette/viper is great. They just keep on-upping each other. Although the exclusivity of the Viper is what makes it for me.
