Absolutely amazing what you can get for 50k, hopefully even less if GM does discounts...

Stats:

430HP/424TQ

0-60: 4.1s

Top Speed: 190mph

Mass: 3217lb

Here is a baseline dyno showing 395/384 rwhp/rwtq. (6miles on ODO, likely more when broken in)

Here is a dyno with Kooks headers and cats. 419/413! Can't wait to see one with CAI and tune...

Seems like GM is underrating it by quite a bit...

They seem to have a habit of doing that, starting with the LS1.

The new LS3 is a monster. People are getting 390+ rwhp stock from the '08. Headers and CAI and you're looking at around 425+ rwhp.

The great thing about the LS3 is that it responds very well to mods. LGMotorsports got 506rwhp 457 rwtq from
cam, headers, CAI, and UD pulley. The whole package cost less than 5k installed through them. Who needs supercharger or turbos when you can get that kind of power from NA.

You can get '08 1LT vette for less than 42k after discounts. Add tax and 5k for LG install and you're looking at around 50k. For 50k, you can get reliable daily driver that will spank 99% of cars on the road. Corvette is simply the best bang for dollar sports car today.

I think the GT500 offers more HP/$ at MSRP (like they're selling at MSRP...hah), but I think we can all agree we'd rather have a Vette ;)

Cams should be capitalized and bolded there. ;)

LS* engines are my favorite in the world. There is something about the simple brute force approach to power that just appeals to me very much. No unnecessary technology just for the sake of technology. God Bless GM.

Agreed. Getting so much power with such small packaging and great weight distribution can't be beat.

And they keep pulling more and more out of it. They even adapted the engine to be used in a transverse front drive.

Where else can you get 400HP for under $7k out of the box: http://store.summitracing.com/...D19156261&autoview=sku
or 500 for $13k? http://store.summitracing.com/...D17802397&autoview=sku

Hell, they even have a 440HP 364 for use in older cars with a carb for $5300 http://store.summitracing.com/...D17802134&autoview=sku

Cheap speed ftw! For the record, I still think an LS7 in a BMW Z3 would be hot.

LS7 in anything would be hot. Forget Z3, M3 and M5 could use it too.

I think he was saying Z3 because it's fairly cheap to pick up a high mileage one.

Supercar performance for cheap, what's not to like. Man, the corvette had a low spot in the 70s into the 80s, but look at it now! World-class all the way.

badass performance, but that interior is from the 80s and that steering wheel still looks weird.

HMMMMM, Very tempting. I get supplier pricing and usually when they do employee, they also do supplier which is only ~3% more than employee.

I like the way the GT500 looks better, plus I just like mustangs better in general. I still like vettes though.
