So.........as part of the "it could be worse" program............


I'd been eyeballin' (maybe an '04 for affordability's sake) a 528i (yes, Bangle's version) in white.

I saw an '08 recently (tailights are now horizontal rows of LED within the swoosh) and I thought I was just going to drool myself into dehydration.

Anyway...........some friends of ours JUST PICKED UP AN '08 528i.............in WHIIIIIIIIITE!!!!!!! WTF????????

Oh well...............I guess I couldn't really afford one anyway, so no loss right???

535i definitely worth the ~5k upgrade... At that price range, that shouldn't be too difficult to swallow. If you're buying used, just go all out and get an E39 M5, the REAL thing!
 
I'm a big fan of the "freshened" BMW 5 Series--particularly the new twin turbo inline 6 in the 535. Dollar for dollar, it's the best sports sedan around.

I actually test drove a 535ix right after test driving an M5 and while they're obviously very different machines, the 535 still felt plenty fast and grippy. I came away feeling that if you had to pick one care to live with day after day, in all conditions, the 535ix is probably it.

I'm waiting for the automatic equipped Audi S5 to come out in 2008 and then I'm going to lease either that or the 535ix as my daily driver. The only potential wrinkle in my plans would be if BMW gets the new Seven Series to the U.S. market at the same time.
